Rev A didn't have the trace, it had two external antennas.

| I did see that one but if you look up from the one you circled there are three traces of solider just north of the plastic pin that is for a other antenna so it is possible for three antennas to run on the unit. For some reason they only put one on the box when it can run two just like rev A and b.

If you want to add a second external antenna, you will want to break a trace (perhaps on the underside of the board) between the built-in antenna and your new external one.
I'm now thinking this is a quarter-wave antenna -- it's too small to be half wave. It might be worth doing.

| After looking you would break the trace on the top side of the board.
IM running 4 days and no reboot and counting. 61 million packets and 28 million though the wireless side and its running strong. Still theory but seems to be working . Could be why the router likes to run vertial too the heat is away from the chip, is south in the circuit there when you point it on its side. |

Go my way, ditch the DI-624 for a different router (got a WRTP54G with Vonage), and let Linksys figure out what to do with the doorstop.
I got mine to stay stable for over a month by turning off XR mode, keeping it at 2.50 firmware, turning Auto channel on, placing in 'G' mode, and doing some other housework things.

Correct how it is suppose to vent ? If there is no hole on the pcb. How is the cool air going to get in and cool it down with the shield on? that is what i want to know.

funchords, would you be willing to discuss DI-624M? I want to attach an external antenna. Don't know how, or what is safe for the unit. I might as well forget the warranty. The damn thing is no good to me the way it is. |

I'd recommend starting a thread in the »Wireless Networking forum and hopefully we'll attract the attention of some of the Linksys and Netgear MIMO folks, too.

This 624M must be the one and only D-Link model that doesn't have removable antennas, and no connectors for external cable. As for the MIMO tech, it has not proven effective at all.:( |

My haunts are here, Wireless Networking, Networking, Wireless Security, ZyXEL, and Comcast (I've seen Scree there).
Currently, I don't have a D-Link router in my network -- but I might soon, my ZyXEL is rebooting once a day.
