Price war

This person doesn't know what he's talking about. Of course there is a price war going on. The DSL providers are slashing their prices not only as a promotional item but their regular prices are now lower than cable.

Comcast will be forced by the competitive pressure to cut their rates or else people will leave in droves for lower priced DSL. Not everyone wants or needs 8Mb speeds. I could live with 2Mb if it cuts my bill in half.

There WILL be price cuts on the cable side and I believe it will be sooner rather than later.

And where were these price cuts the last five years? The next five will be the same. Not until FIOS moves into the neighborhood will cable companies lower their prices.

The only one attempting this is Qwest, with stand alone dsl.

Cable companies don't lower prices. Ever.

When was the last time someone mentioned that their cable bill had gone down for the same services, even WITH the endless moaning and scare tactics about (and real lost revenue due to) satellite TV competition?

P.S. Although, come to think of it, satellite TV bills never go down either. They just don't rise as readily as Bob Dole.

Only if your in range of the local Telco CO. Most of us in Comcast land only have 1 choice for broadband.

The problem with DSL is 75% of the people can not get it. I have to pay $60.95 a month for Comcrap because SBC can not provide DSL in my area. Until DSL is available to everyone you won't see a price war. Comcrap knows they got you and won't lower prices.

I agree with you. I actually got a flier that advertised Comcast HSI (4mbps) $29.99 per month for 12 months. They have never offered deals for more than six months as far as I know. It looks like you will have to buy your cable modem as well.
