What planet do you come from where phone service costs only $13 a month??? That must be WITHOUT another $12 that you'd pay for "surcharges" making the total phone+DSL cost more like $55. You must work for the phone company because they are the only people who would quote their prices the way you did, deliberately omitting all their bogus "surcharges". LIARS! |

Price war....hmmm it seems simple when you add the cost of the regular phone service into the equation that DSL cost the same as cable. I support users and I would rather have a cable modem on the other end of the phone than a DSL connection. Cable is quick efficient and cost effective for the remote work force. I disagree.
If you want to add in the cost of regular phone service on the DSL side you should add in the cost of cable on the cable side; remember Comcast has different pricing for non cable customers...OR at least compare the DSL pricing to non customer internet pricing ($57.95). Either way you slice it: ($30 DSL vs. $43 Cable for ISP pricing only or $43 vs. $58 to factor in phone and noncustomer pricing) Verizon DSL is the better deal.
However, like someone said, DSL isn't nearly as prevalent. |

| reply to NJBelfry Quick and efficient is dependent upon more than just the speed.
You have to allow for latency, routing, and backbone load. If you think 8mb vs. 3mb is the only arguement, then you are a fool. -- My Blog. Because I desperately need the acknowledgement of others.
