[request] Opera ForumFirefox has its own forum, IE has its own forum in the Microsoft Forum. How about an Opera Forum so we can get out of the software forum? I think this would be a great idea, there are alot of opera users here at BBR. The forum would be everything related to the opera internet suite. And opera users would get there answers quicker than putting them in the software forum because all specific opera questions would go in the new forum. |

As a host of the Mozilla forum, I think I can say with some authority:
The Mozilla forum was created because the software forum was being overrun with Mozilla-related threads. Today, I count 23 new and/or updated threads in the Mozilla forum. That's almost as many as the Software forum itself has seen today.
It's been said many times before: when the need for a new forum is there, it will be quite obvious to everyone. |

for firefox it was needed, I doubt there would even be 1/5 the threads in an opera forum |

I tend to agree with the previous posters, there isn't sufficient traffic to require an Opera specific forum. I use the word `require' because new forums typically aren't created without an obvious need (think back to the FF thread floods in the software forum).
For that reason, I *don't sign*. When the volume of posts related to Opera increases significantly (as Firefox did to warrant a forum) we should revisit this request. |

Seems there will be a lot more Opera users in here now, myself included. Reference the thread below. » One Day Only! Ad-Free Opera! It would keep the Opera related threads from being scattered all over the software forum. |

*Sign* I didn't participate in this thread when it was new. I'm reviving it now because I just got Opera free of ads like a bunch of others here today and I have been bugging poor Rob A with a ton of questions as have many others. I think a LOT of folks will now discover Opera and it will take off! I think we will soon find a need for an Opera forum here. I think Rob A should be considered for the mod as he has been a one man help desk all day and night in the thread on free Opera in the Software forum and he is doing a great job. I'm really liking Opera and I have been a Fx and Mozilla lover for many years. |

*SIGN* Though I unfortunately have to agree with the skeptics. Next to Rob A , I think it's fair to call myself one of the biggest Opera fanatics at BBR. But I know when to stay real. I know Opera's action yesterday generated a ton of interest for the browser everywhere, and BBR was no exception, but it's pretty far-fetched to think that because of this somewhat added interest, we would need an entire forum for Opera at BBR. As much as I'd love it to become a reality, I just don't think it feasible. There are a lot of Norton A/V users at BBR. Or a lot of Acronis True Image users. And yet do they call for their own forum? Nope, and why not? Because it wouldn't make any sense. Again, as much as I love Opera, and that's a lot, I just don't think the request is real or justified. If the software forum stays absolutely SWAMPED with Opera threads for two weeks or more, we could start thinking about it.. but the way it is... no dice. |

*object* It doesnt really have enough of a userbase to constitute a forum. Its kind of like the Desktop Customization forum idea illJazz remmebers this It sounds good at the time, but the love won't last forever. |

I'd wait a while to see if other forums like the Software forum get flooded with questions similar to what happened when the FF advertising got heavy. If the traffic picks up and stays consistent then it will be time to revisit this issue. |

If the traffic picks up and stays consistent then it will be time to revisit this issue. Consider this, take a look at that long ad-free opera thread. Imagine every one of the questions there being a thread. There's pretty much no difference, except for the fact that the ppl decided to keep it in that one thread instead. There must be tons of questions in there. |

*object* I'm not going to offer any excuses other than the fact that I do not think there is enough Opera related traffic on the site - at this time - to justify a dedicated forum. It can co-exist nicely with all the other discussion items in the Software Forum. That doesn't mean that cannot change down the line ... lots of things change. |
