I don't quite understand why you need to use Sonic Stage? As far as I understand you need windows media player 9 to transfer files right? Why not use it? Sonic Stage is a horrible program (in my opinion). However if you need to use the program why not try either updating the program or adding media files such as .mp3's to the sonic stage directory?

If you can explain your problem in more detail I'll be glad to help, it is just that you did not provide me with enough information to diagnose your problem.

I dont know what else to say. the program "sonic stage" wont turn on. reinstalling it doesn't help.
If I drag an MP3 to the removable drive that is the MP3 player it works but when i try to use the mp3 player it says NO DATA.

how do I use the player without this program.

Ok it seems as if Sony unfortunately requires this program to be used.

First of all you need to read this update to see if you have been affected.

»esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item···ws_id=52

If you did not install this update then you can proceed to upgrading your Sonic Stage software.

»esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-downl···l=NWE107

Please comment back to see if this helped, If not we can continue to diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps.

I have win 98se this is for

Applicable Computer Operating System Environments:

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional****
Microsoft® Windows® Home Edition****
Microsoft® Windows® Media Center Edition 2004****

I really appreciate the help. I checked add/remove programs and that update is not listed there ( not sure if it would be though if it was installed)

strange as I can use the player as a removble hard drive and play songs off it on the computer but not all by itself.
I got it at circut city and I think I can exchange it for something else before a week is up. any preferences if I go get a different brand?

Ya I have quite a few suggestions if you decide to replace it. First I need to know your price range and what is going to be your primary uses for the player?

In my opinion, the perfect MP3 plater for that price range is a an IPod Mini(4gb).

It has many nice features including,
Anodized aluminum case resists stains and scratches

Touch-sensitive Click Wheel with below-the-surface buttons lets you scroll through your music collection with one hand; color-coordinated control icons

1.7" LCD with blue-white LED backlight and 138 x 110 resolution

Charge and sync your iPod using the optional iPod mini dock (not included); connects to computer via included USB 2.0 adapter cable or FireWire interface (FireWire cable not included)

Doubles as an external hard drive to store and transfer data

Integrated notes reader to download text and read it on the screen; supports contacts, calendars, to-do lists and text notes; date and time display and sleep timer

20 EQ modes make it easy to customize your sound; create on-the-go playlists and rate songs

Up to 25 minutes skip protection, so you won't miss a beat no matter how active you are

Built-in games (Music Quiz, Solitaire, Brick and Parachute) for handheld fun anytime you feel the need

Rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 18 hours of playback or up to 1 month standby time

Includes iTunes 4.7.1 software for Mac and PC

Upgradable to future formats and features; PC and Mac compatible

The price is 200 dollars at Best Buy.

I personally have owned a wide variety of Apple mp3 players and I can honestly say they are amazing.

I have owned an iPod Shuffle (512mb), IPod (20gb & 40gb) and I currently own a 30gig photo IPod.

It all really depends on you, but I personally have had nothing but satisfaction using these mp3 players.
