| DSL 502-T help (changing router gateway)
Hello everyone....
I'd like to know If i can change the router (DSL 502-t) gateway from 192.168.1.1 to something like 192.168.2.1? The reason is I wanna use two different ADSL2+ together on the same PC.But since both have gateways 192.168.1.1 only 1 ADSL sync in..the other doesn't work..So I would like to change 1 router's gateway from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 or something other.. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot |

| Well, it's certainly possible to have two Ethernet devices with different static IP addresses. That way each could communicate with a different router.
On the DSL-502T this is done on the Home | LAN screen which is also related to the settings on the Home | DHCP screen.
However, I can't immediately see how this will work in practice - as far as I am aware, WinXP (for example) expects a single default Gateway address. It is possible to add multiple default Gateway addresses via TCP/IP Properties | Advanced but I do not know what the advantages / disadvantages are.
If your connections are with two telecom companies (different VPI/VCI) then it should be possible to configure two distinct Virtual Circuits on the Home | WAN screen, and you can also define routing to the specific connection on the Advanced | Routing screen. I have no experience of how these features work in practice on consumer-class routers.
Hope this helps |
