 What was your first job?

Okay since it's pretty quiet in here, I'll start.

How much did you make on your first job?

Re: How much do you make?

That's a pretty personal question, I don't think you will garner much responses on that one.

No offense,ED, but I agree with SlvrBlk on this one. That is a pretty personal question. Your dad may not be pleased that you posted his yearly salary, if he knew.

Only my wife knows how much I make now.

Though I will say that I made $20 for cleaning a hair salon on the weekends as my first job.

That's a good idea ED. How about you edit your post subject and say that...

My first job was when I was 12 as a babysitter. I made $.50 an hour.

My first real job was a waitress at a truck stop when I was 16. I made $1.25 per hour.

How times have changed.....

Ed, my first job was a summer job in a warehouse packaging bolts for a Fastener company (how fun). I think I made min wage back then approximately in 1995.

First real job was at a Baskin Robins scooping ice cream in '72. $1.35 per hour. 18 cents for a single .25 for a double and .33 for a triple. LOL.

Janitor at 4.25/hour

I worked part-time as a night janitor at 4.25/hour. At the time I also had a job on weekends as a technician at a computer store here in town for $5/hour.

Those were the days.

My first paid job was picking wild blackberries for the people who lived down the road from us. This is when my parents had a summer place in northern CA. I also did year work ( mowing the huge lawn of the same people I picked blackberries for) For the yard work I think I got like a $1 per hour and I think I got $1 per pail of blackberries.

I remember picking strawberries one summer. That was hard work. We only got 10 cents per basket.

If you consider wading down a small creek on a hot day plucking big juicy blackberries hard work then I guess it was hard

Of course watching out for rattlesnakes when you were picking from land was a work hazard most people don;t have to worry about.

Re: What was your first job?

Well this was back in CT where it is hot and humid in the summer. Plus we were on our knees plucking the strawberries in the sun.

My first job was working at Massas Flowers Shop at the corner of Eddy and Larkin at the age of 13. Yeah it was a tough part of town.
The pay of $5.25 for hard labor which was setting up the flower, moving the water buckets, unloading the flowers, anything that was too hard for him. And then it was $3.50 for easy work which was pretty much security, which meant sitting in his Blue VW Bug and just watching. Or helping him inside if things got too much.

I gained a lot from that job, too bad the shop closed. Massas is a very good family friends of ours and he comes to our house every Tuesday and Sunday.
