| Probelm with Comcast HSI on a Motorola SBG900
I'm having connection issues with my Comcast HSI on a Motorola SBG900 modem/wireless router gateway. I have three wireless computers connected to the network at different times, a dekstop computer downstairs where the modem is, a wireless laptop, and a desktop computer upstairs. I think the cable goes through one splitter to the modem, the other goes into my Dad's television. What happens is the receive light will blink constantly, the online light will go out, and I'll lose connection. Until I just pull the power out and plug it back in and it automatically works again, with no waiting. Until the next time. This last time it only worked for a few hours, the time before it worked for about a week fine, so it's completely random.
These are my signal levels from my modem logs, I'm no expert so I have no idea if they're good or bad:
Downstream Value
Frequency 723000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 38.3 dB
Power Level 4.9 dBmV
The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading.
HFC MAC Address 00:14:04:84:73:7A
Upstream Value
Channel ID 8
Frequency 21000000 Hz Ranged
Power Level 48.8 dBmV
Also when the issue occurs, two messages reappear over and over in the cable logs: "2005-07-20 05:41:28 3-Critical 0x0510FFA4 No UCD's Received - Timeout", and right after that "2005-07-20 05:41:40 3-Critical 0x0501BD64 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing". I am nowhere near a cable expert, I know hot to hook a modem and network up and just use it so I'd appreciate any advice. Like if it's a Comcast problem and they have to come out, something with the splitter maybe, etc. Thanks in advance. |
