If I understand right this is a problem I've had before. When it happens ZAP wants you to name it right? After you name it when it goes through the whole new network found thing, go into the firewall section and under zone click the new network and make sure it is named the same as you name it earlier and click Apply. Reboot and see if it happens again. Just a stab in the dark from a noob. I hope it works but you are using a different version from what I have.

It started with the network pop-up at boot, like amark See Profile started about. I could live with that, as I don't usually reboot unless absolutely necessary.
Then, just starting an app for the first time, the ZAP permission box would pop up in the lower right corner on the desktop, incomplete and transparent, and both the app and the desktop would completely freeze. Not even task manager could successfully end the app. Then the Windows error report dialog box would appear, and get hung in a loop. Meanwhile the CPU was locked at 100%. The only way out was a hard shutdown.
This happened 4 times with 4 different programs.
Nothing else changed other than installing the newest ZAP build.
I usually wait a while before installing these updates, but was up, and said what the heck, let's try.
I have been at this for over 5 hours now ,and just got the Bast...beast completely off.
I'll revert back to an older version, and resume with my policy of waiting for the bugs to get squished by others before installing any updates.

I figured I'd try v. 5.5.062.011. again, That one worked fine.
I still have the installers for as far back as v. 3.025 (7/2002)
I used to keep e'm all cause I had the room, but have cleaned house, somewhat.

My thoughts exactly. Works great with real good protection. No problems at all.

Re: ZAP New Version-Messed Up-Always ask about Net

I just read a post on the ZA Forums that says this (new network detection on boot) is a known problem and will be resolved next week.
Othe than that it's working OK for me. But some of the Spyware popups don't seem right?

Glad to hear of the forthcoming fix for network detection.

As for the spyware popups, I do feel that a warning that my mouse driver is monitoring the mouse movements might be a bit extreme.;)
