We believe in the layered approach to security in this forum. Tell us about what you run with your firewall. As MapleLeaf See Profile said in the Anti-Virus poll '05 "please refrain from 'My Daddy can beat up your Daddy' type comments." This is for information purposes and flaming is frowned upon.

I voted for Sygate since it is the one installed on the machine I use the most.

I also voted for Sygate. Originally, I wanted to use ZAF, but this firewall refused to run (properly) on my WinME machine, so I decided to give Sygate a try. I've been using Sygate for almost a year now, and I do think this firewall is pretty good. Above all, it's very easy to use. If you are looking for an easy-to-use firewall, Sygate is definitely a good choice.:)

I don't run a SW firewall; I have a m0n0wall acting as a firewall/router. Yes, I know I have no outbound blocking, but that's a chance I'm willing to take (7 years and no compromises yet...)

KPF 4.2.0

A PITA for me (to) setup given my limited understanding of firewalls but I wanted more control than possible with my original free firewall (ZAF).

Kerio PF 2.1.5
Should have 2 options for Kerio as 2.1.5 is far different than the current Kerio build and I bet there are a lot of people that would use one and not the other.

ZAP 5.5.094.000.

i like it, in fact love it. i wont be upgrading it to 6.0 though.
i just dont see the need for the upgrading, because the current version is very stable, and has no security holes.
{keeping my fingers crossed though!}

Agreed. I also still use 2.1.5. In addition the WinXP firewall is enabled as is the firewall built into the LinkSys WRT54G router.

Poll seems a bit skewed already due to the "blank" under "Windows XP Firewall" currently holding about one third of the votes. (I know polls can not be edited once posted. )

Oh... still with NIS 2003 and Windows XP Firewall (and a router!)

Kerio 2.1.5 although I screwed up and voted for Tiny (sorry), since I still think of it as that from back in the day.

That's not blank on my screen. It's the entry for Zone Alarm, currently at 14/31%. Try a refresh.

Having to make only one choice, I listed the nVidia nForce4 on my newest machine. I've got NIS 2002 running on this old Win 98 SE box, and Sygate 5 (something or other) running on Win 2000 Pro box. All of these, of course are behind a SOHO NAT router which also provides a rather interesting firewall itself.

Kerio 2.1.5. Unless there are some drastic changes made, I doubt I will be using a later version of this product, and when and if v.2.1.5 becomes obsolete, the search begins for a decent packet filter without the extras that everyone seems to want to include with the actual firewall.
