Do you like the new site design?
I find it much easier to read (I have glasses). |

 | reply to Dan It's still the Best Buy web site, just a new skin on it... |

alex4lifeAlex4lifePremium join:2001-06-22 Delta, BC | reply to Dan I liked the old one. It seemed more professional, and more geared towards the projects, and not some idea of what looks good or esthetically pleasing.
I'm finding it harder to navigate, even though it's the same, and the products don't stand out as well.
Maybe I'm just not a fan of modern web design, but it just seems like there's too much fancy looking crap, and not enough content. -- "For in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's future, and we are all mortal." - John F. Why did they change it? The old FS web site was my best example of a well designed easy-to-navigate website.
Oh well, I'll at least try the new one I guess. -- Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you |

It's not fully Firefox compatible. It's the old Firefox Javascript problem again, but it renders FS's new site rather useless. Just try clicking "next" or page numbers on multi-paged product categories, on Firefox, it simply won't work. Until this is fix Firefox users just can't view products on pages other than the first unless the actual URL of the page is used.
Oh btw, I liked the old site better. It was cleaner, easier to navigate and the product does stand out more. |

I must admit though that sites that only work with IE reveal a pretty pathetic ignorance on the part of the IT people that built them. |

| reply to Dan The old site is much better I don't care for this new one at all. I was emailed a survey regarding the website a while back but it was based on opinion of the then current site and I pretty much raved about it I guess others didn't. -- Stec-Net Forums |

Website good, service bad Like it! Also saw the new giftcards - a more forward design.
Some people might not like the new, minimalist web design, but I do.
P.S. One beef I do have - bought a Canon SD500 camera last Friday with a pricematch, and man was the manager fighting me every step of the way.
First they wouldn't acknowledge that Dell.ca was an authorized Canadian dealer. (I had to bring up the website policy)
Then they didn't want to honour the 110% guarantee. (I had to bring up the website policy, again)
Excuse for not PMing Kingston SD card: "Kingston makes special SD cards for Future Shop, so you can't pricematch it with Dell or anyone else."
Then they refused to honour the Customer Appreciation discount, or the "free printer with any camera purchase exceeding $199" deal in the flyer. (I just gave up and bought it) -- Happy customer of TOROON08CGO | Silentblue.net Canadian DSL Troubleshooting and Why Can't I Get It? FAQs |

The problem that was initially on the site was the known "documentname has no properties" issue. The non standard, messed up javascript implementation used in IE and NS4 does work properly with the bad code, but FF's proper implementation would refuse to work and spits out an error int he console. Many other sites on the web is still using the "non-proper" style which breaks Firefox usability. |

decxPremium join:2002-06-07 Toronto, ON | reply to Dan Hmmm, maybe I've jumped the gun. It seems they actually haven't completely fixed the problem. Some categories work, others don't.
For example, This one works: »www.futureshop.ca/catalog/subcla···angid=EN
This one doesn't: »www.futureshop.ca/catalog/subcla···id=22354
Personally I don't understand why people would want to use Javascript for links where a simple HTML link would do the same job just fine. |

 | reply to decx It seems that the first category is still using HTML links while the second is using javascript. I wonder if they bothered to test this before going live? |
