Re: DGL-4300 and bittorrent

I'm a bittorrent newbie, (so forgive me if you've done this) but did you remember to open up the required ports with the new DGL-4300? I just got one myself, but haven't tried bittorrent since I got it.

Yes.. ports are forwarded in Virtual Server and i created an entry in Gaming.. I tried almost all settings.. Game Fuel on and off, auto classification on and off, dynamic defrag off..

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I post a message a while ago asking for people's opinion of 4300 working with BT, as I would like to replace my 704p. From your experience I guess 4300 won't do a good job with Bitcomet then.

Are you going to return this router anytime after you try every possible setting?

Don't judge the router from one or a few peoples comments. Many different things could affect this.

There are far more people who think this is the best router of any.

Update: I did the following and things seem to be better, although the download rate is still not as good as with my DI-604..

1. Turned on Auto Classification
2. Turned on Dynamic Fragmentation
3. Deselect all ALG

BT speed can go up to 100kB/s download so far at 30-40kB/s upload. I also limit maximum # of connections per task to 30. I got the above when I had 7 simultaneous downloads. I hesitate to start more tasks though.

Now, while I can achieve the download rate above, my MSN and ICQ are still working fine..and browsing is fast. I will update you to see if this connection persists.

Hey kareshi,

I also have the dgl-4300 and all i had to do was go to Advanced/Special Applications, disable all the ALG configurations and added a new rule. Trigger Port was set to the torrent required ports, input port is the port you want to use and then set the schedule to "always". So there's no need to add a Game Setting/enable Game Fuel/ or add a virtual server (which you shouldn't use for bittorrent unless you want to expose a port to WWW, ie. your own web site.)
