Re: Comcast Wireless?

I cannot find pricing for that anywhere on their site. It seems to want me to log in and I don't have time to "sign up for it" to find a price right now and type this too so I'll take your word for it. Do you pay extra for HD? That comes to about what I pay for Comcast.

I know that when we moved in here last year I decided to just keep Comcast because I couldn't get the Outdoor channel anywhere for less. It's quite possible things have changed, but I still don't see any big savings. I'm really quite happy with Comcast. I even like the DVR and On Demand is great too. It saves a lot of DVR space when you have a kid.

My original point was that no one is forcing anyone to subscribe to any company's service. People have to weigh the benefits and price of what they want and go from there for their individual situations. Comcast's bundling fits my family well and that's why I went with them. You may be different. That doesn't mean that Comcast is bad or that Comcast's cable customers shouldn't get a break on their internet price.

Edit: I have to get dinner ready now. Have a good evening. I'll check later for any response but I have some starving boys to feed at the moment.

Yeah. I see I can get the $94 a month package and get the Outdoor Channel with DTV. I remember now that was why I passed on it and stuck with Comcast for thirty a month less than that.:) I concede to my mistake in thinking Comcast was my ONLY choice to get that channel. It's just my best choice.
That's odd. When i logged in to my acct w/dtv. They only wanted $57.99 (+ $4.99 for tivo) for the total choice plus + sport's addon. (includes the outdoor channel + 32 other sports channels. )

That's true. what works for one doesn't always work for someone else.

btw, the outdoor channels is ch. 606 w/dtv. Other channels like mtv hits are not available though.

That's fine that you have that opinion. I looked into alternatives but found that Comcast was best for me since no one else had the Outdoor Channel (It's a must have in our household since it's the only channel with Monsters of Destruction and I have a seven year old monster truck fanatic). Everyone has an option to have cable tv, internet, phone, etc. None of those things are a God given right and, although a phone makes for a safer life, it's still not necessary to live.

I say that if you don't want cable or cable internet then get something else. It's totally up to you. You're the consumer in control of what you buy.

All companies price their product to make a profit. That's the whole point. It's the same thing as "get a $9.99 toy watch for $1.99 with three proofs of purchase!". Why don't they just sell the watch at $1.99 to people who don't buy three whompadoohickies?. Because it's an incentive to buy those other three things. ALL companies do it.

Edit: There no reason for sorrow but thanks for the sentiment.

I don't get why so many people feel insulted that those who subscribe to a better cable package get a better price on internet. Isn't a company entitled to set it's pricing as it sees fit?
They know many people refuse to pay the price for cable when they can get it somewhere else cheaper. (i pay $25.00 less for dtv w/tivo than what i would for digital cable + dvr. And no, it's not worth paying $25.00 for video on demand. sorry!)

Re: Sprint at 12,000 feet

All one needs to do is look at Sprints national coverage map to see their actual "on network" coverage where, supposedly, you can call to anywhere for no further charge. It is very limited. While I'm sure they have some arraingements with other carriers, I'm sure you will find you are roaming on those carriers. I dumped sprint after they hit me with a bill for $200 for supposedly roaming in Las Vegas (where they are the local incumbent phone company).

I signed up with AT&T and have never looked back. My phone has allways worked wherever I went and, since I had a national plan, I never got soaked for roaming again. I haven't seen any difference since Cingular took them over except that my screen now says Cingular, instead of AT&T. I use a TDMA phone, which costs me $10 less a month for a national plan since I dont need all that gimmick crap and I'll stick with it untill I'm forced to "upgrade".

Oh how some are so misinformed....

Just analyze who are Sprints competitors - then look at who owns them - then you can see who is truly vying for a contract with the cable companies

I do not know where you get your info from. Sprint has a very diverse wireless network. I have never been in a place in the U.S. where I was unable to use my Sprint PCS phone.

I was up at Mammoth mountain hiking at 12,000 ft. Worked fine.
Never been to Kentucky your Sprint phone have you?

Re: Comcast Wireless?

Actually I have a Sprint phone and I love it. Their plans are great and my service is just as good as any other wireless carrier I've used for all the places I go. I really like the cost of the Vision plan and the unlimited text as well. It's all priced very reasonably for both my husband and myself.

And guess what? I like Comcast well enough too! Heh.

Considering that Sprint has the most limited PCS network of them all, this is likely not all it's cracked up to be. It will be interesting to see what shakes out.
