| reply to davidcb13 TWrecks- Toast allows a person to burn multi-session/enhanced CD/DVDs which Apple's built-in burning software can't do(even WinXP's built-in burner can't do this, people use freeware or commerical apps for this). Other features of Toast include: DVD creation- for those which have burners non-supported by iDVD(ex: external burners) CD/DVD copying CD/DVD Imaging- some applications/games won't work with Disk Util's image so Toast is the only solution which works like the OS 7.x-9 Aladdin Systems' ShrinkWrap for an exact imaged copy. Shared burner- For remote burning on a network, not really useful for many people but I've tested it and works great. DejaVu Integration- This is a recent feature, it works for both burning and backup copying to another HD.
There are other useful things about Toast that I may have missed but those above are usually the selling points. |

| reply to oliphant said by oliphant :Toast, toast and toast. I have Toast, and I totally dig it. It's very good.
But so many people in this forum talk about how great it is, I feel like I'm missing something. For my own benefit, can you guys give me a quick list of things that it does better than burning through finder? I feel like I'm missing out!
The one thing that I use it for that is a big advantage over finder burning is creating photo CDs. I open up iPhoto, drag and drop pics into toast, hit burn, then head to Target to get them developed.
But I feel like there is more than that.
Sorry for the detour off topic. -- I learned fast how to keep my head up 'cause I know there is this side of me that wants to grab the yoke from the pilot and just fly the whole mess into the sea. |

AFAIK there are no KNOWN spyware/viruses for OS X right now, but can you really trust the site where that program comes from? I've gone to various windows sites offering similar programs and i always manage to download things that could have messed up my system if i was running Windows. |

| reply to davidcb13 iTerm, because Terminal.app does not have tabs. VLC, because QuickTime sucks at playing XviD/DivX stuff. Microsoft Office 2004, particularly Word. I despise Win32 office, but it works great for me on my Mac. Toast is handy, because cdrecord-ProDVD doesn't work quite right. |
