| Sympatico works fine after modem reset but after..
i got hse and after about 2-3 hrs of use the browsing speed drops really down. On an insteresting note, right now my msn did not sign up and when i did the trouble shooting it said that my gateway appears to be offline, and now if i were to do a modem restart it fixes right back up any ideas? |

| Sympatico is still sending out old SS5200s with the old firmware...believe it or not. Have you checked the firmware on your modem, if you have a 5200 check the button at the top of this forum page for the updated firmware for a particular SS5200. One of my relatives received their new modem a few days ago and it had the "synch no surf" issue firmware, I promptly came to this forum site, downloaded the patch and it works great now. Firmware: »Speedstream 5200 Updated Firmware HERE -- My Canada includes Quebec. |

I've noticed that whenever I use MSN Messenger everything slows down and I have to recycle my modem to get things back to normal.
I haven't had a chance to do any tests so this might have nothing to do with my modem. Has anyone else noticed slowdowns during, or after using MSN? |

| i talked to the bell tech support a little while ago. He did everything he could from blame my PC to my Belkin router and everything else and in the end tried to sell me the home networking kit.. its so annoying i just switched from Rogers on the 28th, seems like the biggest mistake already. True with sympatico its unlimited but whats the point when i can not surf the web while running azuerus and even though the torrent is running @ 45 kb/sec . garbage.. before with rogers express i could surf the page normally AND download no problem wat so ever and wanna know the best part it WAS THE SAME ROUTER I WAS USING WITH That.. jeez |

| reply to kingkhansrk I can use Azureus and surf the web at the same time, so most likely something is screwy about your setup.
I just got a new replacement modem, the Speedstream 5200 242 version. -- "I never let my schooling interfere with my education." -- Mark Twain /|\ Speed Profile Upgraded to 3008/800 since December 20, 2003. |

Well as i have already mentioned i have a belkin wireless router and i put the settings as :
in the router...
1) Put it PPOE Connection
2) Put Username/pass and i was connected just fine.
It cant be the router because it worked absolutly fine while using azeurus AND MIRC and browsed just fine USing Rogers and now that i have switched to bell the browsing is slow as hell. after a little bit.. then i restart the modem again and its fast like hell then same thing after a few hrs. |

| Ok just for testing purposes i just turned off azeurus for a second just to test if its my router which looses sync or its actually what i orignally thought that while i run that internet browsin speed craps out. And it came true the second i turned off azeurus .. my internet browsing speed started flying. My upload is set @ 20kB/sec Max
so thats not too bad.. and im on the 3008/800 profile. |

When i had my previous Netgear WGT624 router and my roommate ran Azerus, it knocked the shit outta the router.. It kept flooding the router with some stuff..and after few mins or hrs, routers gets rebooted..Same routine would continue until he turned Azerus off.
End result: i ruled out no running Azerus in our house. If you google it, you will find lotsa ppl complaining about running Azerus and a router. Few months later, i switched to Linksys WRT54GS ( more ram and better cpu) and tried running Azerus for few hrs, that problem disappeared.
So in this case, its your router to be blamed and not Bell.
Solution: a) Get a powerful router that can handle all that crazy Azerus requests. b) Connect directly to the modem? c) Stop using azerus |

well.. i already tried hooking up the modem directly and no cigar same problem.. As far as my router Or azeurus being @ fault, i seriously doubt it cause up until the 28th of July i used Rogers Highspeed express on Same router and ran azeurus+Mirc+browsed with pretty fast speeds at the same time. |

| reply to kingkhansrk Just to throw in a bit of a twist here...I believe Bell to be the issue as well.
I also run Azureus and was on IGS until a month ago and had the exact same setup and had NO issues EVER with running Azureus. Since switching to Bell, that's all gone down the drain. When Azureus is running, everything else slows to a crawl. I also have upload maxed at 30k and download speed limited to 120k so I've left MORE then enough room.
In fact as an example, I play City Of Heroes and on IGS I was able to play CoH with very little lag while downloading something in Azureus.
This certainly does sound/act like it's a Bell issue. -- Biting off more then we can chew... |

I have a Belkin "B" router, and it works fine with Azureus. Do you have the latest firmware for your router?
Check the model number in Belkin forum to ensure that its not one of their crappy models.
Ask for a replacement modem? Just tell them that you have determined, along with a technical support person, that the modem could be defective. -- What I used to be I no longer am... God, why can't you freeze time for my sake? |

| reply to kingkhansrk said by kingkhansrk :i got hse and after about 2-3 hrs of use the browsing speed drops really down. I have complained about this several times.
The techs (supposedly) ran some tests on my line (you know the kind, "stay off the phone and don't use your connection for 45 minutes"). They told me my occupation was too high, and that there were a lot of "errors" on my line, and that those errors accumulate until the line cannot work at all and the connection is killed.
I then started only using one phone jack for telephone service, which in itself is a PITA, but recently I bought a $250 cordless phone that has three additional handsets that don't require to be plugged into a phone jack.
They have now dropped my profile down to 1.7Mb (the first time we went through this, they lowered it from 3 to 2.5). They said that my connection would be much more stable, alas much slower.
They are not offering any other solutions.
Obviously I'm not tempted to call again when I experience disconnections (sometimes once a week, sometimes 5-6 per week). I guess they would just keep lowering my profile until I'm at 56Kbps... -- You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. |

It's much easier to blame Bell.
Try to double-filter your phone. It should help. |

I think you didn't bother to read before flapping your gums aimlessly. I said:

So now I have ONE PHONE. Am I supposed to not have ONE PHONE?! Geeeeeez.
Ya think if it was as simple as "double filtering" the geniuses at Sympatico tech support would have MENTIONED IT?? |
