DGL-4300, need triggering port help

ok, what am i doing wrong here. i want to open port 2000-2004. it's for a video chat program called ISPQ. so i go to special apps under advanced. i put in the name of the program, then trigger port 2000-2004, then both for protocol. then i do the same # and protocol for input port range. then i save it, then save the changes, restart router. then i run port detective. i put in 2000 to check the port and it comes up blocked...what am i doing wrong?

You're pretty demanding of your free support. I don't know anything about the program your using, but for my DVC-1100 video camera I created a "Game Rule" and forwarded the necessary ports with that. I don't think you want to use trigger ports, unless you don't want to get inbound calls.

 You don't want port triggering at all. You just want a simple firewall rule that forwards to your PC. This also means that you're going to have to give that PC a static IP address -- either using a static DHCP function or by manually configuring the card for static addressing.

Just do the following ...

• Go to Basic / DHCP and set up your PC for a static address
• Go to Advanced / Inbound Filter and set an inbound filter rule

Simi Valley, CA		 ok, i'm an idiot when it comes to these kind of things. i take it i go to the add static dhcp client. if i use a 192.168.0.? address it will tell me in the inbound filter not to use a lan subnet. so what do i do? thanks.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen funchords be wrong about something D-Link related! You don't want to use an Inbound Filter. Go to advanced / gaming. For the IP address enter your computer's IP address 192.168.0.?). When setting up the static DHCP address the last octet needs to be in the range of 100-199.

Hey, thanks for setting this guy straight. I don't have a DGL-4300 so I was using the Emulator on the support site.

Very good catch and thanks for a most welcome and gracious correction.

Edit: I just looked at the Emulator and, Wow! -- Your way is much easier to configure and would work great! Thanks again!

Simi Valley, CA		 ok, under static dhcp it says in the dropdown select machine then a #. so i select my machine, copy mac address? then save. then under the gaming i put in that ip with the port # and save, correct?

That's right.

And on that machine, you have to do a DHCP /RELEASE and DHCP /RENEW unless the IP address it currently has is already correct.

ok, i'm gonna have to post some pics, it doesn't seem to be working. i need to make sure it's in the right place.

edit: ok, in the first pic you can see i saved the ip from the computer and saved it. in the 2nd i took the ip, entered the ports and saved it. why won't the port open?

Looks right to me. If you run "ipconfig /all" on your computer does its IP address match what you have on the router? If not a magic reboot might fix it. Do you have a firewall on your XP computer? XP sp2 comes with a firewall that's on by default. Disable or uninstall any firewalls on your XP machine and see if that helps.

Simi Valley, CA		 yup, firewall is on off. ipconfig /all says 192.168.0.186. no other firewalls on my pc. reboot didn't help. guess it's time to email dlink?

I'd try going to "Advanced->Firewall" and putting your computer's IP in the DMZ field for testing. That will allow all traffic to your computer. If it works in the DMZ then there is a problem with your gaming rule, and D-Link may be able to help. If it still doesn't work in the DMZ then you may be having ISPQ issues. At that point I'd take the router out of the loop to isolate where the problem is. After you isolate the problem I'd try contacting D-Link or ISPQ support.
