For Utah, use the Denver site. Denver's CMC is for UT and TX. I believe there are 13 CMC's in the nation.

What is transedge.com?
I think it's a stale DNS entry. The IPs indicate you're still on the AT&T network.

Workie ok

Looks ok to you? Try this from your other post:

»sjos-cdn01.sanjose.ca.sanfran.comcast.net
(I added the »)

This is what I get(see pic#1)

From you next post, »sjos-cdn01.sanjose.ca.sanfran.co···zard.exe
I get a working download(see pic#2)
Your first one doesn't work, for me at least.

Transedge.com is a Tier-2 provider, big in the ATM market. The router port has an ATT address because it is on an ATT subnet. The other port of the router has a Comcast (leased from ATT) address, so it looks like Transedge just supplied some transit to Comcast.

Some of the CDN servers have RedHat Linux as their / page and some give 403. But all of them work when u put the downloadable_install_wizard.exe on the end

That was not stated in the original post I replied to. I copy and pasted the psuedo URL in to the address bar and recieved a 403.

I didn't add the /downloadable_install_wizard.exe part. I figured people would have figured that out

I figured there would be a directory, that's why it wasn't added... guess I was wrong.

Seattle cdn?

I am in seattle. My DHCP appears to come out of Beaverton, OR:
Aug 6 11:52:06 dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 68.87.69.10 port 67

# host 68.87.69.10
10.69.87.68.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer bvrt1-pdhcp.beaverton.or.bverton.comcast.net.

It appears that I leave CRAN in a traceroute between me and Beaverton...
# traceroute bvrt-cdn01.beaverton.or.bverton.comcast.net

9 bvrt-cdn01.beaverton.or.bverton.comcast.net (68.87.69.6) 49.585 ms 34.964 ms 50.190 ms

Does anyone know of a closer CDN site to seattle? The at&t link appears to be limiting my testing bandwidth...

# wget »bvrt-cdn01.beaverton.or.bverton.···zard.exe

13:36:43 (676.84 KB/s) - `downloadable_install_wizard.exe.2' saved [37966872/37966872]

But Speakeasy's Seattle speed test shows:
Download Speed: 7196 kbps (899.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

I am on the Gold tier and I beleive I am on the 8M/768k caps.

Is this burst rate only??? Can't imagine the 4MBps/32Mbps speed.

Beaverton is the dhcp (walled garden) site for the northwest
While you are getting above the old 'gold' speeds, I don't believe the upgrade has been offically applied(after some big bursts (stress testing?) a couple weeks ago, our area is now back to slightly elevated (matches the advetized speed) transfer rates.
The problem with using the install file as a download is--- now that everyone is trying it (daily, hourly every few minutes) is that servers designed to deliver a need(debateable) file to new/recommissioned users are now hit thousands of times per hour rather than 10's of*/ per hour
aFor new or upgrading users, there is no reason to be faster than the lowest old speed

Well, what better way to stress the servers/network than to post a URL here at DSLR?

FreydNot, I'm in a NE suburb of Seattle, likely the same DHCP server. A typical Speakeasy test here shows 7100-7600 kbps down. Download of a large file from Microsoft shows real speed more like 780-800 KB down. The download from the Beaverton, OR DHCP server doesn't reflect my true speeds either.

While I was wondering if anyone had found a closer test for Seattle, as well, I don't believe this area has received the upgrades yet. I expect a better download speed from Microsoft when that does happen.

Re: [Speed] Finally: A True Comcast Network SpeedT

Hehehehe,

I can only see it being that fast two or three ways.

The test was done at the office and post it as if it were @home.(I've seen a few folks do that, and questions answered, actually brought out the fact they were at work).

FIOS and it's uncapped?

Using one of those cache programs that stores everything recently on your hard drive and the next very test(repeat test) shows unbelievable speeds.

I ran across one of those test on a site recently. 1st time in it reported expected speeds, then the 2nd/3rd subsequent test was like, where the heck did those numbers come from?

32,927kbps, yeah.....that's easy on a file that large.
