That's because you needed your account to be properly rebuilt. This issue has been discussed to great extent since the last round of upgrades. The 4100, 4200s, and 4220s are more than capable of handling the new speeds, it's just that accounts are messed up and are not sending the proper configs to those modems. |

| Well whatever the reason was, I was not receiving the new download speeds with the SB4100 and the tech on the phone even said that my modem had the new config file. So it was just not pulling the file, so I decided to get a new and better cable modem. |

But, that tech should have completely rebuilt your account, or if he could pass it on to the next tier to do it. It's simply an account issue, not a modem problem. Q can show you how fast the 4100s can go. |

Sometimes you get a tech that is good, and many times you don't. -- My Web Page Join Red Room Forum |

1 edit | reply to imrf Well It's giving me much better speeds than the SB4100 (which is old & antiquated) so if it can get the job done I would call it better. I'm getting speeds up to 12mbps currently. My local office didn't have Motorola or RCA cable Modems so they gave me a brand new, still in the package and box Ambit. |

I've had problems getting full download Gold tier speeds at my house. But when I take my modem/laptop to my parents house I consistently get full Gold tier 6.6 megs. We are both on the same headend but different hubs. So would the "account issue" you referred to be at the headend or the hub? |

imrf Premium join:2002-06-06 Utica, MI | Your issue different. It sounds like your hub has a capacity issue. In that case you would have to wait for Comcast to find the issue and fix it, and that can take some time depending on what the issue is. |
