Router slowdown during P2P

I am using a BEFSX41 router using 1.51.00 firmware. My son is a fairly heavy Bittorrent/Limewire user. I have them both tuned down to limit the number of connections as well as limit him to using only one at a time however I still occasionally see some severe router slowdown at times. Not sure if it's the router/firmware of a combination of both. I am in the market to upgrade to a wireless model but not sure of how the current brand of Linksys models handle excessive P2P traffic.
Can anyone say how or whether the 54G, GS or GX models handle this?

Re: Router slowdown during P2P

I have a WRT54G V3 router. I've tried different firmwares and noticed the same behavior, more pronounced with some firmwares and less with others. I guess its the router/firmware combination.

I think my old D-Link DI-614+ handled P2P better. Ofcourse it didn't have QoS. I exercise QoS well on my WRT54G. Maybe that is why.

However, I hoped Linksys/Cisco would do a better job with their router firmwares. Am disappointed. It lacks some features - not very advanced features; simple ones like static DHCP etc. and has stability issues (with large up/downloads). Just my $0.02.
