 speeds

to your complaint. i work for charter and you dont always get 3 meg speeds you get up to 3 meg but it is not guaranteed and your router can also slow you down. alot of people dont always tell that they have 4 computers going at one time and slowing the speed down. also it makes charter look bad and i have to stand up for them because they pay my bills and feed my kids and i also work on it everyday. if you get a tech out there to your house ask him what your transmit levels are behind your modem because a modem cuts off when it gets to 58. you want the upstream transmit level to be between 40 and 53 that a good number to shoot for if it higher he needs to figure out why. tell me what type of modem you have and i can tell you how to look inside your modem from your computer to see what your transmit levels are.

see yaaaaaaa

Please read the previous posts. Charter has acknowledged it's a problem somewhere in the outside lines. Not the modem. They changed the amp but the levels go from a 40 to a 58 within seconds. Whatever it is is coming from the amp.

Only reason for the router is the firewall and an XBOX Live connection. No other units are on the line.

to be honest with you you cant replace the amp and it work if there is a problem before the amp. your modem should be on a line by itself going to a two way splitter with one leg of the split feeding your modem and the other leg feeding your tvs. if you have a house amp your modem should be before it and your tvs should be feed from house amp. other than that there is a module inside of amp at road changing that and having a problem before it does not resolve your issue. i would not let the tech leave until it was fixed and i would deinitely contact a superviser in the field over your area.

Will do, thanks. They're coming out again tomorrow. Thanks again for the reply.

Had the techs out again today and still horrible speeds so I went to BB and bought a new Linksys Modem, got it provisioned and bypassed my router totally and still having problems. Tuesday will be the 9th week.
