Wow yeah, I know what you mean.....I burned all of my music on DVDs just for that reason.....sounds like you lost that HD....you know now that I think about it, I had a 120g Maxtor drive do the same thing on my wife's computer....it was driving me crazy trying to figure where that beeping was coming from....I took the box apart and unplug everything but the drive and lo and behold, that's what was making the noise....I RMA'd it back to Maxtor. Good Luck to ya. SATASI
