| reply to madirish While we're waiting for a new 9.26 version - I have a question.
Do you know a Process Explorer/Task Manager program that may somehow highlight any "new" task running on computer?
I think it'd be useful to "alarm" user if a new process begins to run. After seeing it user may "approve" its run by reseting an option and as a result - the process becomes "well known" and since then it will never be highlighted in the list.
I miss this simple functionality in Task Manager and in Process Explorer. -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

| reply to madirish You mean just like a wizard-based software firewall like ZAP or Outpost? Actually that's a pretty cool idea.
The only one that comes to mind that MIGHT have such a feature is this one: »www.neuber.com/taskmanager/ Because its main focus is security and you are, without a doubt, speaking of a security feature.
If you try it out, make sure to report back about how you like it. I personally have never tried it as I'm quite happy with Process Explorer . Best process viewer I've ever found and free. I never bought the hype around Wintasks Pro, for example. I've tried it on multiple occasions and somehow it was never able to meet my expectations. I think they've really overhyped the product which leaves those who try it out with a flat, if not empty experience.. -- DL all LIVE8 Concerts! IMHO. As always. Opera! | Yes, exactly. illJazz - thank you for link to "Security TaskManager". It looks "heavy" to me. Frankly I do not need some artificial security ratings, I'll do it by myself. What I need is simple - to see processes that are new for me somehow "colored" (or bold'ed in the list) . I'm sure it's very easy to implement. -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

illJazz Premium join:2002-09-04 switzerland | reply to madirish Indeed it should be fairly easy to do, but I wonder why nobody has done it yet. Or maybe someone has and we don't know about it.. |
