In addition, it can be made to rip cds to mp3 files using the Lame Mp3 encoder.
Lame download is available here. Then right click on the inf file, select install.
Necessary registry changes are below: ---Add contents below to notepad save as .reg file.----
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding] "LowRate"=dword:0000dac0 "MediumRate"=dword:0001f400 "MediumHighRate"=dword:0003e800 "HighRate"=dword:0004e200
---End of registry file contents.---
A minor change has to be done to Windows Media Player- See screen shot here: »/r0/download/6···hot2.JPG | |

Don't bother with CBR, either. It's pretty obselete in comparison to the --alt presets for any given filesize. -- The Problem With Music. Our Rationale Time to rewrite the DMCA. | |

| said by cdigioia :Thanks. Is the Lame Mp3 encoder much better (faster, higher quality, etc.) than the one built-in to WMP? Windows Media Player doesn't have an MP3 encoder built into it. It encodes WMA files. MP3 may be better than WMA at a given bitrate, but many people can't tell the difference. -- Jimmysquid.com - I take pictures. | |

I avoid the issue by using vorbis.... -- It's not what you know but who you know... | |
