334WT new Firmware : 3.60(JN.7)CO

The datasheet includes WPA2 but I don't see it in the changelog, on the global download site (Broadband router, 334WT):

Loaded, retained settings from V5 -- using G-162, reset both router and card for WPA2 using AES and works like a champ -- no noticeable speed degradation, but will do further tests.

Interface is different, but so far (when I get used to it) seems better. A summary page provide much more information than before, including memory and router CPU utilization.

The web gui has been changed to more closely resemble a more homogenous look across the lineup with zywalls. Take a look at the version 4.0 firmware on MAXUSAs thread zywall 35 firmware. Very similar appearance.

Awesome! Thanks. I am going to download it right now but I have to wait for a storm to pass before I try installing it. Wouldn't want the power to go out during an install.

I hope this fixes all the problems I had when I first got this thing and tried to use WPA. We'll see.

Wow! The new GUI looks really nice. Especially the status page. For me they finally fix Oz time issue. And seems like I'm getting extra 100k with firewall on. Now they just have to get rid of cli, because the currently with no rules memory used by 46%. I think thats to much.

Thanks for heading up Mem

It uses the same color scheme as the P330W so it appears this is the new color standard for Zyxel consumer grade routers.

Interface is really nice! Did everyone just upgrade or start from scratch?

Also what's everyone's memory usage? I am at 51% and CPU is 2%.

I was also hoping that they would have fixed the custom Dynamic DNS entries...doesn't look like that's the case .

Mem - 51%, CPU at rest is under 2%

GUI looks good, I like the top status page and so far it is smooth sailing with the G-162 card and a cabled PC. I uploaded firmware and did a factory default reset and then put settings back in. I've seen corruption in some routers if a reset was not done after a firmware flash leading to instability or unexpected behavior.

So far it's been ok for 4 hours no factory reset.

I think the memory is statically pre-allocated for the device, so 51% used is just as much as the router will ever use for the config at hand. No need to worry about the CLI removal, etc. Hope this will ease some worries.

Do we have to do both the firmware and the config files? Or can we just do the firmware and keep the same config file?

And what is the CLI thing of which you guys speak?

I like to know the same thing regarding the firmware and config files upload.

Try it with your existing config (that is what I did and it appears OK). If you see any problems you can always reset it to factory defaults.

I just did the new firmware and, since no one responded yet and to be on the safe side, I did the config file too. A bit of a pain to have to do all the settings all over again but I'd rather err on the side of being stable. Best way to evaluate the new firmware is starting with a stable install.

I have just gone back to all my old settings and so far all clients are 100% stable and everything is working just as good as it was before, which was pretty good.

I have not tried to go to WPA yet. I want to give it a few days and make sure that everything is 100% before trying to go to WPA again to make sure that if I have any problems it is WPA and not something else changed in the firmware.

It is probably OK to maintain the old config files but I just don't do that since one of the routers I had in the past left a port (1900) open to the remote admin page of the router if not reset (an undocumented feature!). And, surprise, apparently a Linksys model is showing the same reset requirement or the WPA encryption lets others on as long as the PSK is blank: »Ouch! Security problem in linksys routers

All firewall tests have been fine, stability is great, WPA and WPA2 have worked flawlessly for a 12 hour test period so I'm

Ok you convinced me I will do a reset then reconfig this weekend. I know it's better to do it but I am being lazy

Dumb question and know I haven't researched but does the Inte1 2100 and 2200 series wifi support WPA2 or will it?

What is the difference between WPA and WPA2? I ask because the new firmware seems to support WPA2-PSK and the Windows WZC utility seems to support WPA-PSK either TKIP or AES but I see no mention of AES in the new P334WT firmware.

So I'm wondering if WPA2-PSK is the same as WPA-PSK-AES or are these 2 separate things?

Here's the longer explanation of it: »difference between WPA AES and WPA2 AES
