[Wired] BEFSX41 - Router swallowing ARP calls.

Hello again,

Having successfully flashed up an f/w version thanks to the tips and musings of many on here;
(I did need to do the ping-while booting and tftp flash trick. I'd've been lost without that. Thank you to all),
I am now attempting to have my SX41 accept inbound calls to :445 for a linux box to connect to an MS Share on Win Srvr 2003.

I know the linux connect works, because I have tested with the MS & linux boxes on the same segment. Works like a charm.

However, reinstate the status-quo with the MS box on a diff segment behind the SX41 and ..... trouble. So;

Linux 10.X.X.1
Router WAN 10.X.X.11
Router LAN 192.X.X.11
MS 192.X.X.1

The SAMBA mount cmd from linux appears to send out an ARP (Addr. Resolution Protocol) call first up to see who answers (despite the fact I am making the Samba call via I.P. address and not Host name. ARP calls apparently go to a B'cast port/addr./whatever it is. And consequently because the SX41 is NOT the machine I am looking for, it appears to ignore the call and just drop the packets. Again, have tested by plugging in Laptop in place of router and Ethereal-ing the inbound packets. The only 3 calls that appear to arrive are 3 ARP calls.

I have tried setting up Port Forwarding/Triggering on :445 on the router to no avail. I can't use uPnP because WinSvr '03 doesn't support that anymore.

It really seems as if I'm stuck here. Does anyone have an idea how I can force the SX41 to allow something through or force it to respond to ARP Broadcasts?

How secure (externally) is the DMZ port if I plug the MS box in there and enable that? Anyone please?
