If all you care about are the employee discounts, I hope you don't get hired. It's all the customers that will suffer. |

We had 36 channels and most of them were unused. Satellite services were a few years away (1979) and there just wasn't that much out there yet. At least we had HBO. But then again, it wasn't 24/7 at that time either. |

| reply to mikedz4 I have been trying to get on with Comcast for a couple months as a Communications Tech. Level1, I even have a friend there in the Auburn, Wa location. I don't really care about all the perks, that's just an added bonus. I'm all readying paying for it. I just enjoy network stuff and would love the chance to be a part of it and might learn about new stuff coming out before others. I have also been told they take good care of there employees. I just keep applying. |

| reply to mikedz4 Good Luck on the job.
I started working with Comcast a few months back and enjoy it greatly. The training is great, co-workers are all cool, overall treatment is very nice. Yes, the perks are great, but just an added bonus as previously stated. Having a large family as I do the benefits are great. -- I'm just a youngster so what would I know! - LMAOROFL! -=)--=Pure OUT!=--(=- |

| reply to mikedz4 Well I need the health and medical coverage as I lose my parents insurance(even though i might still be in school) next year when I turn 25. What kinds of questions do they ask you in the interview and test? Will I find out if I'm hired or not on monday or will I have to wait a while? How long and what is the test about? thanks |

| reply to mikedz4 I think your first problem is talking about getting discounts from the company before you even have the job! Surely this isn't the main reason you would want to work for this company.

| reply to mikedz4 Yeah but I'm not sure which job I am interviewing for since I applied for several jobs with comcast. I did ask what the interview is like, how long the interview is, what the testing is like, and how long is the testing. Just trying to be prepared to hopefully impress the people so much that they offer me the job on the spot. |

You do not want the interview to look so scripted that they pass over you. At an interview your goal is not to overly "impress people" but to give them the sense you are sincere in your desire to work for the company, help them achieve their customer service goals and to ultimately drive up subscriber retention and new accounts as a result of your contribution to the entire team. This is not about just you but about working with a company that likes teamwork (all of corporate America does ON PAPER)
Also do not even ask them about benefits at all. This shows you have an interest in the wrong area (yourself) as this interview is to "impress upon them" that you are a fit for their organization, irrespective of the position you are applying for. If you seem too stiff, scripted, interested in benefits you will come across as desperate and you'll possibly blow the interview. Take my advice and memorize this statement I typed earlier:
("I am very serious about my desire to work for the company, help you achieve your customer service goals and to ultimately drive up subscriber retention and new accounts as a result of my contribution as part of a team.) Don't mention that you need to pay your bills, that is too self serving and shows again that you are more concerned about Mike than the customers.
Try to slip that in at some point. Rehearse it in front of a mirror if you have to but make it sound believable. You are an actor trying out for a part when you go on an interview so learn to play the part. At the interview ask them to describe the particular job they are interviewing you for and as they do that, try to relate real life experiences that you have experienced that would enable you to do that job. Also, remember it is all about the customer and customer satisfaction but using the utmost in integrity and honest in those dealings. Never do anything slippery and always respect the customer. In fact, if you use the term "Isn't it all about the customer" at some point that will also be good for you.
Hope this helps. I'm someone who interviews well and have always gotten a job offer for every job I have tried out for. Play the part but be sincere and you'll do fine.
Show them that you have a brain and that it functions well....:o
The benefits will follow AFTER your 2nd day at work and then we are all inviting ourselves over to your place for a cable-a-thon to watch all of your premium channels. |

Maybe you should worry more about how you present yourself, communicate and working on your skills and less time worrying about what kind of discounts you will get on Comcast products. Jesus. Classic lazy American. What do I get for free? You got a lot of nerve if you ask about discounts during your interview. I wouldn't hire you. |
