As someone who has been on both sides (interviewer and interviewee) I can tell you the best bet is to just be yourself. If you are not yourself, people can see through you and if for some reason you get the job, you now have an image to live up to that is not you.
You want to connect to the interviewer on some level. By being yourself and showing how you will be an asset to the company, you will probably have a good chance of getting hired. If you come across as just saying what you think they want to hear, you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting it. |

| Doesn't sound like that great of job. I mean that's up to you whether you want to take it, but personally I would decline that offer and see if there are any other positions available for you. Also I've read about door to door salesmans for cablevision and a lot of times they are sent out for the purpose of trying to retain customers especially from satellite companies. If you decide to take the job, don't be surprised if you have to deal with some not too nice people going from door to door. Not trying to scare you or anything but that is what a lot of these companies do it seems. |

I would ask if they had any other positions though first. |

| reply to mikedz4 Mike - I now know why you are not finding employment. you once again focused in on what the job can do for Mike and keep stating you want it bad and with your luck you'll not get it. In Math they call it the "common denominator". That appears to be you from what we are hearing. All of us offered up good advice and you choose to hone in on the tuition thing and if it is going to benefit you. You have a lot of introspection to do unfortunately and it shows.
I feel like I wasted my advice.
As for the door-to-door sales job? That will age you rapidly when you get sent out in the freezing cold knocking on doors late at night with people afraid to open their doors especially when there is a strange male on their doorstep and it is dark out. -- »voipboards.net |

| reply to mikedz4 First, you should know what job your are interviewing for.. Sorry...
I've read this thread and have to wonder that if you're 24, you should know better. You do seem overly interested in the free stuff and very little on what you'll be doing.
If you don't know what you're interviewing for, then you shouldn't even go to the interview. To ask what the perks are before you get the job and not even know what you're interviewing for is silly even though you state that you applied for several jobs. Ever thought about asking which position you are interviewing for when they called?
I know I may seem harsh, but hey, the questions and responses to questions from others seem as if you've never had a real job and are only interested in freebies. -- Fiber Optics is the future of high-speed internet access. Stop by the BBR Fiber Optic Forum. |

| it seems after all the good advice mike has gotten, he is still fixated on "whats in it for me". i have worked with, and supervised, my fair share of workers like that. and needless to say, they are'nt with us anymore. with todays job market as it is, plenty of folks would be happy to just work. as stated the perks are a plus---not a given. that said good luck with the interview, remember you are one of many trying for the job. |

| Just be yourself mike and you'll have no problems. But I do agree with the others when they say that its not about all the benefits. |

Also if you are in Door to Door sales that department has a HUGE turn around. I would say 80% of the department is less then a year old in seniority at any given time. Also Im not sure what kind of benifits they get as they are mostly commission.

Also Im not sure what kind of benefits they get as they are mostly commission. MAN that's ONE interview I would have loved to of been in on. It has huge turnover because people beat up on you, have their dogs bite you, pull guns on you and threaten your life. Most of your time is spent finding people stealing cable and then you have to threaten to "cut them off" on the spot if they do not sign up legally. Out come the dogs again when that happens.
Happy bunch but I have quite a few friends who were Cablevision sales people and ALL of them left and a lot of them took jobs at Verizon Wireless because at least it is climate controlled, there are no dogs and people with guns for the most part. Mike will need those benefits to pay the medical bills once he's on the job and while convalescing, he can channel surf for free on an account that is in his name while waiting for the tuition reimbursement check to come in. -- »voipboards.net |

| reply to mikedz4 Well I went in and took the test today. It seemed pretty easy. I really want this job. I tested for CAE. What exactly does a CAE do? I wouldn't mind working in a call center or local office. There is no dress code, everyone is laid back it seems like a great place to work. I don't understand why people wouldn't want to work for comcast. I was told that the HR person would call people later this week or early next for the next step in the hiring process. I really hope I get the job. I haven't even been offered the job and I already love it. |

| reply to mikedz4 I know that where I take the test is a comcast internet call center. Where if people like you and me have problems with comcast HSI we call the 800 number and get the center I took the test at. I don't read the job information. I just apply for the job. I would imagine by the questions I was asked I will be manning the phones for comcast. I also know that I want to work for comcast. This is the job I have wanted for a long time (years) now I gotta pray everyday and night that I get the job. |
