Re: Vbuzzer on DTA310 I love being the only one that replies to my post, I found out how to make Vbuzzer work with the DTA310
I had to do a hard reset, I think some settings where stuck in it from Voipbuster setup I was using (using a paper clip and pressing the reset button while plugging in the power).
I used vbuzzer.com for the server & domain then my user vbuzzer name for phone number, display number and user name field and then my vbuzzer password for password
Then under the NAT tab I enabled use STUN server and used : stun.softjoys.com
It works like a charm, the only codecs I have enabled is 711a & u (the default ones)
Sound quality was great the times I tested it. 1 cent per minute no monthly fee, it this company stays in business and the quality stays then I'll stick with them.
I will set up my Supra next (but it is confirmed Vbuzzer work with Surpas already)
I also got SJPhone to work with Vbuzzer with no problems.
After the Supra I may test Asterisk. |

 | Thanks for the post, I love SIP.
Tried with my ATA186, worked too. |

 | I am glad it helped someone...
Another interesting thing I found out, Vbuzzer is portable, I copied the installed directory Vbuzzer to a flash drive too it to work and it ran without any issue... |

Actually DTA310 does not allow to set SIP to port:80 that Vbuzzer required ! (see picture) or could you post the setting screen snapshot? |

rock_on join:2005-01-26 Colpitts Settlement, NB | Hi cgigate,
I've encountered the same problem with VBuzzer. I've tried two different flavors of the firmware (12.35 + BVA8052) however, neither allowed me to set port 80. Having said that, the ports allowed on each firmware differed which got me thinking, maybe I could modify the firmware myself? Anyways, I tried doing so in notepad but couldn't get the firmware files to open correctly. I really don't know how to do it but am confident that someone in this forum would know.
Any takers? -- www.netphonedirectory.com Specializing in PC to Phone and PC to PC VoIP |

Attached is vbuzzer.bin. It is a 12.35 look-alike with the port range set to go as low as 79...
give it a spin.. I make no guarantees it will do what you want, but what the heck.. that's the fun of it! |

I just used the modified firmware to successfully register my DTA310 with VBuzzer via port 80. Initially, I could dial out except that the line would just ring endlessly. The only way I could get it to work normally was to enter my user name in both the 'phone number' and 'caller id name' boxes as well.

Ok, for anyone who's interested, I screenshot the update to rcilink's latest firmware as well as the settings that I used to configure my DTA310 with VBuzzer. They can be accessed here:

cgigate join:2003-05-12 Fort Worth, TX 4 edits | Nice job! I don't know why the Vbuzzer is so special. It is very difficult to make/receive local call (416 area code), but it can receive non-local call (I tested Stanaphone NY phone # to Vbuzzer on DTA310, it works fine), but it cannot call (endless ringback or busy) to my home phone and cell (416 area code).:( Only the Vbuzzer softphone is working fine for everything! |

krishn join:2004-11-05 Brant Lake, NY | reply to rcilink hi,
I downloaded your hacked firmware so that it would accept port 80. it worked fine and the device keeps itself registered, never a busy signal and everything was perfect, thanks for that. One small problem though, I dont get heavy bandwidth where I live and I want to use G729 but the thing is the hacked firmware by default enables G711 both a and u law could you please do a big favor to all of us and hack the firmware AR160 so that I can select ONLY G729 and use vbuzzer with that? i would be pleased and am thankful to you in advance.

rcilinkPremium join:2003-12-15 Manchester, NH 1 edit | Here is the AR16O firmware with Vbuzzer modification to allow port 80 UDP (sip port) setting.
As for the G729 codec, give it a try and let me know.. I don't remember the CODEC settings..
No warranties are offered... Use at your own risk!
EDIT: Firmware changed to fix for port 80 use..(oops!) |

hi rcilink,

I post this before I dont know why it doesn't show on the forum. sorry if i am posting it twice.

rcilinkPremium join:2003-12-15 Manchester, NH | reply to wilder0 That firmware only allows port 5060 and port 5061.. I am going to guess that it is because you have the router portion built-in to the UIP1868 phone..
So, yes, port 80 can be added to the firmware, but it may not work if the 'router' portion has it configured...
I will try it and add it here for you to test. (I dont have this device, so you are on your own!!) |
|
 | Thx again, UID 1868 generic |

Ok, here is a stab at the Uniden UIP1868 (generic) for vbuzzer. give it a try to see how it works.
I don't have this device to test.. So, please test it and let us know if it is a working firmware. If it is not working, I will remove it from this post.
NOTE: Do NOT load this on a Packet8 UIP1868P phone! It will make your phone no longer work with Packet8! (unless that is your intention, to have the phone -never- work with Packet8 again... )
EDIT: Revised firmware to do port 80 in PORT field and firewall field |
