T-Mobile Internet - I'm lovin' it

While it might not be fast compared to other networks, but its faster than dialup with a good signal, along with you can use it anywhere you have domestic coverage without any extra charges. I'm attaching a few images for the speeds I have recorded, and one thing I should point is is my phone also supports EDGE aka egprs, I'm not sure if part of the speed is the upcoming network, or not however all the other phones except my Moto v330 don't support edge currently, including the v3 razr for some reason.

The connection is completely proxied, your are given an 10.x address, and your server is a 192.168 address so it wouldn't be great for those needing to run a server, however its been great while I've been on the road. I could just leech off of the various wifi as I go right now, but this is a constant connection as long as I have coverage.

It is $20.00 if you add it to a voice plan, or they have internet only plans starting at 29.99 depending on what your using like aircards(pcimia) or their pda/phones.

Tests I used:
BBR Seattle, WA Speakeasy Java test
Direct Seattle, Wa Speakeasy Flash test »www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
AT&T WorldNet Speed Test »www.wurd.com/thoughput/thruput.htm

I wouldn't be playing any online games with the connection if that is what your looking for....

ping www.yahoo.com

Reply from 66.94.230.44: bytes=32 time=732ms TTL=52
Reply from 66.94.230.44: bytes=32 time=936ms TTL=52
Reply from 66.94.230.44: bytes=32 time=885ms TTL=53

Ping statistics for 66.94.230.44:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 732ms, Maximum = 947ms, Average = 875ms

The speed is good for being mobile across the country at its current price, but it does have lag. However I should also mention I'm using Bluetooth, and not a serial or usb cable which could add to the latency.

Re: T-Mobile Internet - I'm lovin' it

Well no I wouldn't be looking to play a game over any cellular internet connection, I was just curious how good or bad the latency was. Thanks for the info

If you have the VPN-class service you are given a routable Internet address. It's no extra charge.
