| D-Link DL-604 Problem
Ok I just recently purchased a new computer...
And I decided to just have my Friend completely build me a new computer from Scratch...
But now the new problem I have is ticking me off and my Friend can't resolve it either...
I bought a Router(Not Wireless) {D-Link DI-604} and it worked temporarily for like 30 minutes... And then my DSL died... and when it came back online... The 'Internet' Light wouldn't 'react/come active' and so then I plugged the Main Ethernet Cable back to my Computer and it worked just fine and then I REPlugged it to the Router and then ever since... I can't use the Router properly anymore... And I did everything the Manual says and all.. But I can't get the Router to work... So now I am just using my Primary Connection and the Router is just 'there' for 'Looks'..
So I don't know what the problem this time... =/
And I KNOW that I am not really providing enough information so if you need more let me know since I don't really know what else to give...
Thanks. |

From the symptoms its sounds like SBC with a Speed Stream 5100. |

@69.238.x.x | reply to Cultivator19 make sure you have the ISP BRIDGE the modem.
Once that's done, the router and modem will not conflict. |

| Heh bah it worked but then once I turned off my computer and restarted.. Same problem..
And yea I do use SBC Yahoo DSL with a SpeedStream 5100(Not sure if it is 'A' or 'B')
I got the Router after my New Computer so I didn't have it beforehand.
And now I am restarting it to be Brigde Mode |

| Yeah I tried Both methods that were provided by both your First and Second link...
Hmmm well everything is Default(Router/DSL) and only difference I did this time since I got 'help' from various forums... Was to update the Firmware... and that seemed to do the trick... Everythign is working just fine... BUT I have not shut down my computer.. Since I am afraid that once I shut it down my problem will come back =/ |

I probably wouldn't mess with it until I knew I had a few clear hours to work on it. | At the bottom of the Tools / Misc page, there's an option to lock your WAN port speed to 10, 100, or 10/100 Auto?
If so, try setting that to one of the locked (non-Auto) values and then go through that restart sequence. See if that helps... -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA Dear Anonymous, Thank you!!! Thank you!!! |

Turns out that if you use E-mule it causes the unit to re-boot on occasion.
Simple fix, I dont use crappy ol E-mule anymore. |

| Well that isn't the case for me..
Ok ok now I got the Router to work with my Primary Computer, but not my secondary..
Strange thing that I noticed is that my Connection under Network Connections is connected at the speed of 100.0Mbps
But on my other computer is says 400.0Mbps.. So I am not sure how to change it to match the one on my Primary Computer.. More or less when I check the Properties(Support) of the Secondary it doens't give any ConnectioN Status: {Address Type, IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway}
I can't repair it because I get a message that says:
Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannont Proceed

If you can download and install a newer driver for this adapter, that will probably fix it. If you can't find a newer driver, try these steps (for XP):
1. Go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager 2. Click on Help, Help Topics, Device Manager, How to..., Reinstall a Plug and Play device 3. Follow those steps for the network adapter -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA Dear Anonymous, Thank you!!! Thank you!!! |

funchords Hello Premium,MVM join:2001-03-11 Washington, DC | Is this a "1394" adapter? If so, that's a firewire adapter and not a network adapter. How are you connecting up to that?! |
