Re: Questions about condotv / Internet

Ok, all questions will be answered.

1. HD programming is in trials at the moment, although launch would mean a few things: New receiver, and only 1 TV could get HD, possibly 2 depending on what else is running through the pipe, at one time. Right now it looks as though it will only be the STB as the challenges of pushing HD to the other TV's would require extra CPE.

2. As for the pricing, the Sympatico rate is 34.95 for the first year, and $39.95 thereafter INCLUDING the discount. No extra $5 off there. Also, the current 2/3 months free promo credit cannot exceed the value of the programming. I mention this because some clients think they can stack discounts one on top of the other. Beware that ExVu price changes are coming for themes and Digital Standard, so if you're going to do it, do it now before the increase. The total for the first year would be $59.95.

2.At the moment, 3 SDTV + the old Ultra tier does not cause bandwidth problems. I have yet to test this on the new ultra profile as I have not touched the product much lately with the strike.

3. The STB has various outputs, including a coax one that send the signal to the sets via your coax wiring the same way the cable company does. No extra hardware required. As for the internet portion, there is a LAN jack on the back. You can either plug your PC or existing router directly into it, or take the Sympatico provided Speedstream wireless router into it. Personally, I think the wireless routers they provide are bad, and have a weak wifi signal, but if you're in a condo, range isn't an issue. I know my house had terrible coverage, so I use my own belkin Mimo box.

4. You can't ask for a different modem. I say take the wireless networking upgrade because worst case, you can put it in the closet and use your own unit.
