This is really good news. I imagine Verizon has lots of criteria to sort through when deciding what areas to deploy. Hopefully, the decision process just got a bit easier.

Why don't they feed the MDU via Wireless from the Fiber feed?

I get 34 to 54Mbps with my 802.11G network. The Tiers my be tricky.
