I have the same problem, but If I turn on the DMZ and point it to the VPN server it works. It is as if though the router is blocking something else. GRE? I don;t even know how you would define GRE in this thing.

But I have used this router version in 3 different locations and it blocked PPTP in all 3 with 3 different routers. Put in another router and everything is great.
