My company had this same problem with the Linksys WRT54GX v1.0 MIMO router. We purchased 14 of them for use in our offices across the country and although we really needed the extended range capability, we ultimately returned all 14 routers. The only reason - our employees couldn't get VPN access to our headquarters WITH ANY OF THEM. We later found out from some other companies that they had similar experiences.
Our IT folks spent more than 7 1/2 hours with Linksys tech support and also swapped out routers with new ones Linksys sent us. Nada - we never got any the routers able to VPN to our server and became convinced that they are flawed when it comes to remote VPN access. Since then we've switched to one of Linksys's MIMO competitors and haven't had any problems with VPN access. |

| I don't know which MIMO products work with this correctly. I ultimately returned the SRX router, tried the Belkin which would not work either, and then bought the WRT54G v3.0 which works fine. Not supposed to be as fast as the MIMO stuff, but it is about twice as fast as my BEFSW11S4 v4 wireless. In my very basic tests which were standard G and B, the MIMO routers were possibly a bit slower than the WRT54G. |
