| Westell 6100 modem question
I have a westell 6100 DSL modem. I am going to put it into bridge mode so that I can use my own router. Is there any way to access the 6100 via the web interface once you place it in bridge mode? I couldn't find anything in the manual about it.
Thanks |

| Just so I understand, you are talking about over-riding the DHCP address and assigning a static IP just to manage the router, right?? I've been struggling with getting my external IP address to pass through the 6100 to a Linux router. Everything I've read so far talks about putting the 6100 into bridged mode. With the caveat of the MAC address. So you are talking about strictly managing the 6100, right?? |

| reply to alura Alura, Are you trying to "see" the westell 6100 when it is attached to the WAN port on your router? I am trying to do he same thing (with no success). I have a Linksys WRT54G with the WAN port connected to a 6100 set in bridge mode. The Linksys is providing the username/password to the 6100 for my Verizon account. What I would like to do is connect to the 6100 while it is attached to the WAN port so I can see the modem stats, etc. Tim |

I'm talking about overiding the computer's IP address (could be statically or dyanmically assigned by your router) to be on the same subnet of the modem in order to view/manage the modem.
So you are talking about strictly managing the 6100, right?? Correct. |

| reply to pende_tim Correct, I want to be able to log into the 6100 to see the signal strength, etc. For example most cable modems you can access through a router by 192.168.100.1. I was hoping the 6100 had something like this built in when it is put into bridge mode. |
