| [XP] can't connect out on cable modem
Charter.net in Asheville NC.
A few weeks ago there were some problems with cable in our area, which were resolved. Now, when I try to connect my laptop to the internet (connected directly into the cable modem) it can take 5 minutes for any webpages to load. Eventually the connection quits responding.
Called Charter TS, I did everything that they said, it's still not working. Charter replaced the modem, said that the original modem was fine. Neither my laptop nor the 2 others I've tried will connect out. Tried other patch cables also. Tried my laptop in 2 other locations (neighbor's DSL and work) and they connect out fine.
Anything else to try? I'm stumped.
Cable enters the house, goes to a splitter - one side to the TV, the other to the cable modem. I thought about trying another splitter. |

| Other than the splitter you must still have a bad cable signal or tech support didn't set up your modem during the switch. Sometimes you need to re-establish your connection to your network card. Try this. Go to device manager and right click your network adapter and select uninstall. Next go to edit and scan for hardware changes and let windows reinstall network card. Try the net again Good Luck |
