That's rather blunt, however, I do have to concur on a wider scope that the area was not meant for human inhabitance. If the nation were intelligent, they would not allow these areas to be rebuilt (only to be blown apart/flooded again with the next hurricane). Living below sea level is just plain suicidal. There is almost no amount of government planning that can avert a Cat 5 hurricane with up to 200 mph wind gusts. And when these regions get into trouble, it costs the whole nation money, both in recovery efforts and also in terms of supply shortages for the vital resources routed through those ports. The states of LA and AL need to do some serious thinking about reallocating the land area for habitation. There are going to be far more hurricanes, some even worse than Katrina, in the coming years, and maybe even in the coming months. That said, it's very sad that individual families are suffering, as many of them were born there and don't have much opportunity to get out of the bowl. -- Take care,
