Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3

Why anyone would even consider downloading Windows patches from anywhere other than Microsoft© or Windows Update is beyond me. But there are those gullible enough to do it.

These are from microsoft, they are just mainly for companies that have specific bugs that microsoft tries to crunch out a quick patch.

Specific bugs or not, I would NEVER download any Windows patch or Service Pack from a third party site. I've seen too many HJT logs posted in this very forum and I know full well what you download is not always what you install. JMO

I aggreee with owlbet here. While the patches might be from ms you simply can not know what else is in there with them. Maybe this one is 100% legit with out any trojans keylogger cd key steelers etc. But i remember one for windows 98 way back when that was packed with a full blown trojan a keylogger, a pre configured proxy and a irc ddos bot.

When it comes to patches and driver related tyhings do not use 3rd party releases or apps. Driver removers totaly suck i mean realy if ati and nvidia cant get it right do you realy thing guru3d can?
