Has anyone else noticed that over the last few days, 7 digit dialing is working for when dialing within your local area code? This must be something new they have been working on and finally got running. |

1 edit | reply to Richard09 The problem is that you will not be able to make calls in your area code using 11 digits. Also for those that set up 7/11 digit dialing (because that is what is normal in some areas) you have to add a rule to your dialing plan:
|r(1B,xxxxxxx)B|
So it would like like this:
(>#|p([2-9]xxxxxx)1A|r(1B,xxxxxxx)B|1[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|x.T|*x.T|) Where: A = the area code that you want 7 digit dialling to work. B = the area code of your SR #.
If the area code is the same area code that you require 7 digit dialing in then you would remove the first 1. It would look like this: (>#|p([2-9]xxxxxx)A|r(1B,xxxxxxx)B|1[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|x.T|*x.T|) |

| reply to Richard09 Heh,
I live in the DC area. A couple of years ago I lived in the Boston area. Both regions require 10 digits cause area codes overlap geographic boundaries.
Seven digit dialing? What on earth is that? /grin
I would start to worry if seven digit dialing started to work in my area! |

| if the caller ID is displayed on the handset, many of the electronic phones will allow you to add the "1" before outpulsing the number. My old Panasonic cordless has an "edit" button which adds the "1"; press it again and it removes the area code leaving only the 7 digit number. My Uniden phone allows me to simply press 1 when the 10-digit number is in the display and the 1 is added.
You might have similar capabilities with your phones. |
