i really have no problems with 15/2. I am comfortable with it... and i doubt ill pay the extra 10 for 20-30 upgrade. I will just wait a while before i upgrade then when that time comes it feels good. but for now 15/2 is an A for me. even for the next 2yrs
Yah, but you can get the 15/2 for $44.95/mo if you call them and take the 1 year deal. Again, they will tell you it's for new customers only (see my other post this thread), but you can get that deal if you ask for it.

| reply to WileEC said by WileEC :The deal is *technically* *cough* for new customers only, but if you call them (as I did) and you explain to the nice people that, yes, you have it already, but there were no plans available when I got it, etc... they *will* let you order it. I know because I did it today. I upgraded from month to month 15/2 to a 1 year rate on the 30/5. I understand that it *should* be active when I get home later tonight. You can call the Verizon Fiber solutions center at 1-888-553-1555 Once you get past the initial recording, just say "operator" and then answer "yes"... you'll be on with a rep, explain the situation and they will put you on with someone in the order center. Be nice. I'm always nice on the phone, and I believe everyone should be.
I could do the year rate on 30/5, but not sound greedy (thats now how I mean this comment), but what happens if down the line, tier's are reconfigured based upon market conditions? Am I still "locked into" the 30/5, or is it like their cellular service, where you start a new contract from the date of change of service? -- "When you get lost in your imaginatory vagueness, your forsight becomes a nimble vagrant." |

| I believe there is a penalty of $99 if you cancel service prior to the one year. With 30/5, that is a chance I'm willing to take.
And by the way, I am at 30/5 now. Tested to 31.1/4.84 at »myspeed.visualware.com/ -- See the most beautiful woman on earth at PetraCentral! (yes, I work there!) |

| reply to Vamp Remember, the service is only as fast as the slowest link between you and your source or destination. This would be same as buying a car with a 200 mph top speed thinking that you will get places faster. Sure in some cases, performance will be better, but you will not be able to drive everywhere going 200 mph. Your packets will not only be sent over Verizon's network. What incentive do the middle links or other routers in the Internet have for providing you with a faster service than the next guy. I have noticed that Verizon has slightly downgraded the performance of my 1.5 Mbps DSL connection when I opted for the 786 kbps DSL. I would say that the service feels about 20% slower when web surfing and the fastest download speed has been reduced from about 100 kilobytes/second to 70. But my cost has been cut in half, so I still benefit. But I doubt that the 30 Mbps services will be worth it for the average customer. |

| "Link between your source or destination
sounds a bit singular to me. I run 3 computers all sending and receiving on multiple connections. Its not to difficult to max out a 15/2 connection. If 30/5 were made available to me here in NJ @ $54.95 I would jump right on it. |

| reply to AJ023 This is a really good price for those who can get this promotion (I can't, but i'm still doing 15/2 for $40 for my first year). I think I will stay with 15/2 because I can't afford to pay $55 per month. I just hope that Verizon's end can keep speeds high. I know there's plenty of websites that can't feed at the 30 megabit rate, but hopefully Verizon's servers can come close on there end.
I'm interested in seeming some upload tests to see if people can upload at half a megabyte per second. This will be great for sharing photos. |
