[General] SBC has DELETED my email/web account!

WTF? I moved out, so in order to avoid the DSL cancellation fee, I'm having the DSL moved to a new location.
I was told I'd have to have the phone line at the new location put in my name, and so I did. But now I try to log in (at »sbc.yahoo.com/) and my account has been deleted.

Okay, I'll bite.

The first question would be, did you try to register your account at the new location, by visiting »https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net?

Agreed on the registration, that is sometimes still required on a DSL move.

We can take a look at the line, need the new DSL Telephone Number to do so.

Weren't you on a giant "SBC SUPPORTS SPAMMER TERRORISTS111!11111!!" crusade to begin with?

Personally, I would not be surprised if someone canned your accounts.

No offense, of course.

Were you not getting too much spam in that account anyway?

Why would you want to keep it if they are the "2nd largest Spamhaus" and an "organized crime syndicate"?

Re: [General] SBC has DELETED my email/web account

Who said my SBC email accounts got any spam?

That registration URL is invalid.

Are all my mail and web page settings (my.yahoo.com) lost? I'd bet they are.
I mean does SBC/Yahoo keep that stuff? I don't want a new account; I want the data in the old account.

Sorry, typed the URL in a hurry.

Do as Riss suggested, and as I corrected.

No good news to report, so I haven't posted.
Nothing's back; seems the answers to the above are 'yes', and 'no', respectively. Any reason you thought the answers would be different?

It's amazing. SBC must handle several DSL customer moves a day, but they don't have a process for doing it?

Well, they do.

Either you use the CD (something I try to avoid) or you follow the instructions in a FAQ like »Ameritech - SBC FAQ »How to setup an AT&T DSL Connection manually from scratch!

I migrate several accounts each year, and the ONLY trouble I have is when a new IP block gets assigned for static customers. SBC will even assign a new static block for those customers on speed changes or contract renewals (for the $99 6mb plan only, since the 3mb plan static plan and those lower don't require renewal for the same monthly rate).

Are you saying you didn't visit »https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net and put in your ID?

I meant to say 'largely automated process'. And I'm talking about a MOVE, not a new install.

I did. It was difficult; the site doesn't work with Firefox... tried Safari. Finally, it proceeded to sign me up for SBC Yahoo DIAL . I've no idea what state my account is in. No DSL.

Yep, the site only works with Internet Explorer, be it on Mac OS or Windows.

Yes, it's a move, but it's also a new install. And many people who don't claim to be industry experts figure that out each day.

The first page after agreeing to the terms on »https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net says:

Member Identification

Do you have a Member ID/email address that ends with @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @ameritech.net, @pacbell.net, @nvbell.net, @swbell.net, @prodigy.net, @flash.net, or @wans.net?

Please enter the appropriate information below. You will NOT need to fill out all of the information on this page. Only provide information in ONE box; either Box 1 or Box 2.

When you have finished filling in Box 1 or Box 2, click "Next" to continue.

Box 1

YES. I do have a Member ID/email address that ends with @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @ameritech.net, @pacbell.net, @nvbell.net, @swbell.net, @prodigy.net, @flash.net, or @wans.net.

If you do, there's a place to put in your existing main account ID and password.

Below that, it says:

Box 2
NO. I do not have a Member ID/email address that ends with @sbcglobal.net, @ameritech.net, @pacbell.net, @nvbell.net, @swbell.net, @prodigy.net, @flash.net, or @wans.net.

If you are new to SBC Internet Services and do not have a Member ID, please enter your telephone number with area code. If you have more than one phone line, please enter the telephone number on which you are installing your DSL service.

At this point, you probably want to make a post in SBC Direct, and see if they can untangle the mess you got yourself into. Give them the DSL telephone number, and try not to accuse them of a problem that just might have have been a PEBKAC situation.

when you move and transfer service its basicly ordering new phone service with dsl attached to it. same process happens, you wait until dail tone appears on the line and then the order for your dsl posts on the dsl side of SBC. Provisioning happens (the process in which dsl is built onto your phone number) , takes about 5 to 7 days (roughly) to build your circuit again on your phone number. Even if it was the same one you had before its a different area, different grid system, ect...

as for your account looking like SBC dail tone, when you transfer service your email/userid becomes down graded to dail tone up so you can still access your email and even use it for connecting with dail tone up while you wait for your dsl to provision.
re-registering your account makes it active again for dsl service, your account by the sounds of it is fine. use Safari and register your account you'll get a "upgrade confirmation screen" walk through the rest of registration until you get to either "registration is complete" or a page that saids "account setup, from now on use the member id shown below to access all your ..blah blah blah.." either one your account will be active again for dsl. depending on what modem you have take that same userid and password (your email address) and put it into your modem, should be able to connect after that.

Well, the good news is my stuff is back. Thanks to lev, I guess.

Not that there's any good excuse for it having disappeared in the first place.

Oh, and did I mention that SBC 'lost' my DSL order at the new location? I don't think I did 'till now. SBC's ability to find new ways to screw up never seems to amaze me.

People's eagerness to attack SBC, no matter where the "fault" lays, or how quickly a mistake is resolved... "never seems to amaze me."

Re: [General] SBC has DELETED my email/web account

SBC told me they lost the order. I had all the order numbers, so there's no question that it wasn't placed; they admit the order for connection at the new location was placed, and could provide no explanation for why it hadn't been filled. Oh, and the abuse department can take not hours, not days, not weeks, and not months, but years to kick ROKSO spammers off their network.

I was told the move would be complete weeks ago. It's still not done.

But facts and logic are not relevant to some people.

3rd time! SBC has DELETED my email/web account

WTF? Deleted for the 3rd time! Recently it was working, but I was marked as a 'dial' customer
If I try to use the forms at »https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net, they tell me there's an unknown problem. The DSL bill has some weird numeric email address on it, not my normal-username@pacbell.net address.

I'll post to the SBC Direct forum; hopefully the techs there can look into this. What things do they support in that forum?
Line problems, obviously. Yahoo non-free features? Billing issues?
