That's the clincher. He wasn't speaking freely. Speaking freely isn't allowed in a communist country.

He violated that countries laws, plain and simple.

This has nothing to do with free speech, or free journalism, or any freedom whatsoever. They don't allow it.

China blocks most major information outlets from the western world. I guess all that bandwidth goes to piracy, spam, and government-sponsored hacking of U.S. servers containing classified technology.
