Re: How long are Comcast DHCP leases?

They usually use 1 week leases, unless maintainance or repair work is happening about to happen, then they switch to 1-2 hour leases.
They do uses a persistant lease system, as long as you are on once a week you will probaly get the same IP for many months or years.

Re: How long are Comcast DHCP leases?

Thanks. I was just looking at my SB4200 logs and note that the renewal attempts are every 3 1/2 days, so that would be consistent with a 1 week lease.

Re: How long are Comcast DHCP leases?

The DHCP information in the modem logs is for the modem's Wan-side IP. The information about your computer's lease is found in the computer, or router as the case may be.

Yup, even when I'm out of town for more than a week, the router is on. (and my ReplayTV downloads it's program guide everyday) Same IP for >10 months.
