1 edit | I've raised this question in the past, and never really got an answer. I'm still curious to see if this has become possible. If not, it's something that needs to be added to SBC/Yahoo's functionality.
MrFixIt - if it's not possible, is there any kind of "suggestion box" for this stuff that we can contribute to? |

| reply to Rekr You cannot remove the sub-account from your father's service and had it made into your master account. There's a chance that maybe a Tier 2 rep can make it a sub-account on your service after you've registered a master account. If it can be done it will just depend on who you get as to if they will do it. -- "Padre, nobody said war was fun now bowl!" - Sherman T Potter »www.cafepress.com/maxolasersquad »maxolasersquad.com/ »maxolasersquad.com/network/ My DSL Network Guide »myspace.com/mlsquadhttp://myspac···mlsquad2 |

3 edits | I don't think that's possible these days. I know it's not possible these days. It used to be like pulling teeth back in the day, but once Yahoo came into the picture that possibility went away. Both situations (sub as a new master or sub w/a new master) would require similar actions in SBC & Yahoo, and I don't think either company's db supports this now. It's usually recommended that you create a similar ID, or the same w/a number after it, not what folks want to hear most times. Seen folks go up and down the ladder trying to get it done, and it always ends the same. Sad but true. |

| So who actually knows the answer to this? I'm not some dummy who doesn't understand this stuff, I actually support these kinds of systems. I find it incredible that whatever back-end these yahoos (pun intended) are using doesn't support this.
The longer the SBC/Yahoo relationship continues, the more of an issue this will become. Families who shared accounts have kids who move out and want to keep their accounts, or people who have 2 separate accounts get married, etc etc. Changing addresses is an option, but it's not a good one. Web-based email like Yahoo was originally billed as being an address you could "keep for life," but apparently that's no longer the case. Not everyone can maintain their own web host/domain for the purpose of keeping an email address forever.
The least they could do is let me un-merge the Yahoo ID and then merge it into a different account, but they say that's not possible either. So there's some flag on the record, how about removing it? Who are these programmers that can't handle this simple task? |

| reply to Rekr Actually, post-yahoo when CT was still in the same system that was setup before SBC bought SNET, this would have been possible. SBC bought a whole new system and moved everyone, except CT, to this system. This was (supposed to be) why the higher tiers weren't available to CT. SBC finally moved CT to this new system. This is when new registerees where able to pick their own username instead of having one handed down to them. The new system was suppose to be the answer to all problems, but just like the 3 systems before it (in my time with SBC) it wasn't. -- "Padre, nobody said war was fun now bowl!" - Sherman T Potter »www.cafepress.com/maxolasersquad »maxolasersquad.com/ »maxolasersquad.com/network/ My DSL Network Guide »myspace.com/mlsquadhttp://myspac···mlsquad2 |
