| DVR muting??
I'm a new Insight Digital customer, and have gotten one of the new dual tuner DVR models. I've noticed that if I have left the house, and the box is off, and then it turns on to start recording, when I come back home, the word "MUTE" in white letters appears in the middle top of my screen when I turn my TV on. I can't seem to find out how to turn the box's MUTE off without stopping my recording and restarting the box. I've consulted the owner's manual, and have found nothing. Does anyone here have a solution for this?
Thanks!!

Looks like their site was hacked, but it should be up again soon. |

| reply to Saboles Here's how to unmute your box.
1. Press the 'Cable' button at the top of the remote. 2. Press and hold the 'Setup' button until the 'Cable' button blinks twice. 3. Type in the code 994. The 'Cable' button again blinks twice. 4. Hit (Do Not Hold) the 'Setup' button 5. Enter in 00141 (for Box Mute) 6. Press whatever button you want "Box Mute" to be (for myself, I used the 'on-off' button at the very bottom of the remote). |

| This is a rather annoying issue. I shouldn't have to leave the box on 24/7 or do some up up down down right right left left type of code or process to get the box to work as it should. So I'd agree that a fix would be nice. They'll state testing this or that is going on. Or that they don't want to just release the firmware with one fix or feature etc etc. Unfortunately I'd tend to bet this isn't a high priority to fix on anyones list but the customers. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| Why waste the power? I never ever leave anything fully on that I'm not using - except for my pc at times ( I do shut the monitor off - which is what draws the most juice. Even if we would all follow your reasoning. Why the heck should we accept that a firmware update has broken something and shouldn't be fixed with a new update? Maybe you see this as something simply solved by consuming more power - yes I'm aware that even turned off devices do pull a small electrical current. This is yet another shining example of companies just not caring to provide a product or service that works as it should - as it used to - or how it is advertised. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| reply to briantrue I have to turn my box off because my tv needs some time to warm up when you turn it on. It's a Samsung dlp, so If I leave the box on and come in the morning to turn the tv on (with the box already on) my tv doesn't like that for some reason.(everything red) I have no choice but to turn my box off. Maybe my tv isn't right I don't know, but if I turn my tv on first and let it warm up for about 20 seconds and then turn the box on everything is fine.
I have the muting issue also.

| reply to Saboles The MUTE issue is a problem with the remote--not the box! The remote's MUTE button is not properly programmed (which Dango727 tells us how to correct, above).
The box goes into MUTE mode when it starts recording from a power-off condition on purpose. Without this feature your box would turn on in the middle of the night to record a show and if you leave your sound system on all time, sound would start blaring out of the speakers. I have heard people complain of this behavior--some even thought someone had broken into their house at 2:00am when it was just a movie being recorded.
Moto programmed the thing to go into MUTE so that would not happen. They just forgot to add the proper coding to the MUTE button on the remote. |

| I don't think I agree. That does halfway make sense, but the remote part doesn't. The mute button works along with the volume button. If you have the volume set to work your stereo receiver then the mute button is also going to work the stereo. If you have it set to control your tv then the mute button is going to mute your TV. If you leave the volume locked to control the DVR then the mute button will work just fine. |

| reply to Saboles said by tirebiter :Moto programmed the thing to go into MUTE so that would not happen. They just forgot to add the proper coding to the MUTE button on the remote. The new remotes, which have to be used with the new DVR, are coming pre-locked to audio on the TV side is what tirebiter was saying. So you have to move it back to the DVR side to get the mute to work. If you have your TV setup with the right codes on the remote when you push mute you are muting the TV and not the DVR. If you set it back to the DVR, per the instructions, you will mute the DVR.
