Hi,

As the program was just released today, I figured I'd post a link to the release thread so people know what we're talking about:
»EULAlyzer 1.0 Released -Analyze license agreements

If you have any specific questions, I'd certainly be happy to try and answer them.

Best regards,

-Javacool

I've downloaded iSearch Toolbar, and it found many interesting words (well, duh). I've submitted it to the EULA Research Centre ^_^

EDIT: Weird, Avast and Fortinet are the only AVs that detect the iSearch Toolbar install file...

There is also another one of these coming out, this one the original brainchild of Ben Edelman, talked about by Wayne Porter of ReveNews here:

And here is sample out put of it:

The FaceTime app is a bit more 'technical' so to speak, but both will offer users another tool to figure out what all the mumbo jumbo is, or at least give you a better idea as to what they are trying to say sneak by you.

If this catches on, the EULA authors are going to start writing with an eye towards "Beating" the EULA filters, just like spammers have been doing with spam filters.
eg current EULA
"Sentence 40: This Software will collect information about websites you access and will use that information to display advertising on your computer."

same sentence modified to beat EULA filter
"Sentence 40: This software collects in the websites, what they will use with this accessible information, with the end to indicate one publicity in the relative calculation.

Excellent point - however EULAlyzer was designed with this in mind.

It should deal with such tactics fairly well. (And although I'm not a lawyer, I would assume that if the language becomes non-human-readable, or impossible to interpret, it wouldn't be binding - so there's only so much they can do.)

That said, that's also why there's the EULA Research Center (»www.eularesearchcenter.com) which everyone can submit license agreements to and help us out.

Best regards,

-Javacool

I trust Javacool so much, I didn't bother reading the EULA before installing this.

Thanks for another great program!

A nifty tool that flags confusing and/or hidden EULA text for closer inspection. This is a great idea for people who want to be cautious but not get a headache - and it works! Simply click and drag a pointer into any license agreement text (copy/paste also works well). Items are sorted and rated by level of risk. All interesting text gets broken into snippets that can be examined easily; then clicking a curved green arrow next to flagged text highlights that section within the EULA.

Thanks to Javacool for another useful privacy tool (along with SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, MRU-Blaster, and more). BTW will there be an update for MRU-Blaster?

An update is planned, but I don't have any estimates on when it'll be available.

Hey this is nice to see being launched, and a Great name for it too ! As back in february others and i had some input into the idea for such an App.

So thanx to Javacool for all the hard work that must have gone on behind the scenes in this time creating and testing it, and for acknowledging the contributions in the original thread. Also not forgetting of course he is providing it as FreeWare once again, as well as the Pro version !

Let's wish it Really takes off and starts to make a big dent in things from now on. And as more people begin to become aware of it as the word spreads, they will find out what it can do help them better understand those awful copouts. - »www.wilderssecurity.com/showthre···&t=97308
