[FireFox] AdBlock Plus vs. AdBlock Normal?

What advantages does Plus have over vanilla? Plus' site doesn't seem that clear.

Try this one: »www.extensionsmirror.nl/ ··· opic=774
Adblock is not being developed any longer so since someone took over the project and added more features, thus the name change ... well sort off.

Old thread, but still relevant, I guess.

Does Filterset.G work OK with Adblock Plus?

Should I uninstall Adblock before installing Adblock Plus?

TIA

Filterset "G" works just fine with Adblock Plus and yes uninstall the old Adblock first.

Export your old Adblock filter before you uninstall the old one and then import it to the new one and then import i tto Adblock Plus.

Just to expand a bit on Grail Knight See Profile, and others' excellent answers:

If anyone using Fx does choose to remove the year-plus moribund Adblock, for whatever reason, do so only with the Extension Manager's "Uninstall" feature. Do NOT attempt to remove/uninstall Adblock with Adblock's "Deinstall" selection, found under Adblock Preferences-->Adblock Options (unless and until this longstanding, known, continuing irresponsible and reckless problem is finally corrected).

If anyone does decide to try the current, well supported and excellent AdblockPlus, along with the likewise excellent and supported third-party Filterset.G, you might also consider employing Adblock Filterset.G Updater, also excellent.

Consider adding to the above three related tools the extensions "NoScript" and "RIP", and you increase surfing security, privacy and, most of all, sanity.

The first URL points to an mcm_ham (not the original author's updating work) fixed version of the old Adblock. This is is just a "fixed" version and lacks any of the developments or the refinements of mcm_ham's work on Adblock Plus (eg whitelisting etc).

The second URL just points to the problems of the old Adblock and its suitability for 1.5, issues etc and is most notable for the reappearance of one of the developers of the original Adblock, who apparently has been revivified, after months of being MIA.

There has been talk of a 0.6 in the wings, but this has been talked about for over a year.
