If telnet to 110 didn't work, your POP server is down. Try running a traceroute to it to see if you have a path to it. If so, call the provider because the server died. SBC does not filter port 110. That would be too insane even for them...

@emhril.ameritech | Intermittent service now. It was on part of the day yesterday, now its back down again.
Telnet for SMTP didn't work either when the port was blocked by SBC.
I'll give my hosting provider a call tomorrow if its still down. |
