Also, theres plenty of tools to allow you to make backup copies of HL2 that's been purchased via steam and burn it to DVD. I'm sure the same will apply when DOD:S comes out also. | |

It's exactly like games from the internet boom that all used different online mulitplayer networks that died in the boom. I have all these old games where MP doesn't work now.
I agree with the orginal poster. I want the actual game on a disc that I can use wherever whenever I want. I don't want to have to use an internet connection, I don't want to be unable to play because of some Steam screw up, and I don't want to be unable to play because Steam no longer exists.
Also to the people talking about hacks, they'll be out in minutes. It's a mod to a game that already has plenty of hacks for it.
Also to whoever said it was nice of Valve to have these servers and not make us pay monthly. These are not servers you can play on, these are to purchase the game through. Best Buy does not charge you monthly to keep their stores open, Valve shouldn't either. It's not being nice, it would be stupid to charge monthly. | |

Look at Westwood Online, it's gone because they were bought over by EA. I've paid for my Tiberium Sun game, and I cannot play it online because there's no more master server to give me a list of available games. | |
