Re: [scam] Digital Age, KCSOFTLLC and Coastal Wave

Yes, I did search the Forum as well as Google and elsewhere, but there were no posts with two (2) name matches together much less all three (3). I did post in the »$9.95 scam, now from kcsoftllc.com thread to keep it updated.

The strangest thing is the Ohio Wireless ISP that charged an Auth on my card and yet I've never been to Ohio and I am not a Yacht owner (their primary target customer base) so who is using their CC processor to test cards for being valid? That sounds very suspicious.

That is a typical MO of how some of these frauds operate. IMO you are on the right track and your card was tested thru Coastalwave with the $1 charge.

My guess is that Coastalwave's merchant account was hacked or compromised. The scammers will usually hack them on weekends, and run hundreds of tests to validate cards. Since you are an interested party you may want to call them
»www.coastalwave.net/contact.php and enquire about the test on your card. I would not be surprised if that was the case.

Did your bank give you any contact info for the Digital Age charge ?? a phone number maybe or address?. Cyprus seems to be a favorite scam location.

As already posted, both KCSOFTLLC and Trouble Bubble are under the umbrella of the Devbill.com Credit Card scam operations.

Some merchant accounts operate with essentially no security, allowing anyone that reads the code on a site to place charges as though they were the merchant, and look at the merchant's account to see if they went through. The merchant then finds his account has been closed by his merchant bank, and his 800 number overwhelmed by phone calls. Sounds like the case here.
